We stopped off here last week for lunch while on holiday in Glasgow. We've been before and loved it, were passing and decided to pop in. From the outside it looked closed - there were hardly any signs of life. We pushed on the door, it opened... The location is Merchant City - only mins from George Square, right in the heart of the city. There are plenty of options, food wise, around and The Dhabba has excelled for some years. Anyway, we spotted what appeared to be the manager sort of hiding around the bar area. He spotted us, we said 'Lunch ?' and seated we were. There were no other diners at approx 1pm - this was a Tuesday afternoon. A quick perusal of the menu, we quickly saw lunch specials, ordered in no time at all. My wife had the 3 courses for a tenner deal - her chicken fillets arrived and were both piping hot and spicy as you like, very good indeed. She then had a fairly medium Lamb curry and Jeera rice. It was very good indeed, freshly cooked and tasty. I ordered a meat Thali - a selection of small pots of curry and sundries all served on a stainless steel platter. It's perfect for lunch, small tastes of your faces, just enough to tempt the palate. Chicken, lamb, Lentils. Classic and very well done indeed. A lovely Roti went down a treat too. The food at The Dhabba is excellent - that we know. What is odd is that during a weekday lunchtime they were empty and appeared to be not that interested in attracting any customers. The food deserves more effort than that.
