“Sunday Lunch”
Reviewed May 16, 2013

Spotted excellent fixed price Sunday Lunch offer at Hotel du vin that we thought would be ideal for family gathering. Have dined at hotel before and enjoyed good food in beautiful surroundings. We were offered whiskey snug for private dining which was just perfect. Big disappointment was the food. Main meal comprised one slice of tough beef, half a potatoe, one broccoli floret, two tiny carrots and mediocre Yorkshire pudding. Clearly only way the hotel can make money from this deal is to serve mean portions. Hadn't been informed of mandatory service charge when we booked. Total cost of £22.95 per head meal for 10 people with two bottles of mid price wine and soft drinks for kids was..... £416. Love the ambience of hotel and service generally good but won't do Sunday lunch there again.

“Excellent tasting menu & matching wines”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

We had the tasting menu and matching wines which were all excellent. Overall we enjoyed the food and the experience, but there were some small niggles with the service, and the decor and general furnishings need freshened up.

Remember they add a standard 10% service charge on top of the bill, so unless you feel the experience was worth it, there is no need to leave further tip.

“Sunday brunch”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Visited for a family birthday. Been before for meals. Big deal made on menu about second course-the french table. What a disappointment. Some fish, pate and chopped cucumber and tomato! My main course of roast beef was awful. dry, no gravy and a brick hard yorkshire pudding. i returned it. i was given the same plate back with half eaten meat and veg and a new pudding -shocking.The worst part was trying to get some water. We had bought drinks, including bottled water, but our son only drinks water. Getting a glass of iced water was hard work. The waitress wouldn't part with the jug and it took many attempts to get a refill. I think after slapping a ten percent service charge on the bill they could manage a few glasses of iced water.

“Very comfortable west end hotel”
Reviewed May 2, 2013

Stayed for private function and were well looked after for dinner, although we did have to negotiate a lot over availablilty of high-end of wine list. Staff were excellent and helpful from check-in to departure.
The hotel is a series of private houses all joined together so easy to get a bit disorientated! I had a very comfortable room with its own foreplace and lounge area over looking Great Western Road. Not much traffic noise. Big comfy bed with lots of pillows, nespresso in room etc. Only issue was black tiled bathroom. Well appointed with combined bath and shower, lots of large fluffy towels but lighting poor if you are planning to shave in the morning!
Better than a stay in a generic large hotel and would recommend.
