“Excellence in an odd part of Glasgow”

While Darnley Street isn't somewhere you'd expect to find a good restaurant, Roma Mia will exceed the expectations of even the harshest critic. As you can see from other reviews, the food and the wine are, of course, excellent. It is, however, the extreme attention to detail that makes Roma Mia truly fantastic. Top dishes include: suplé (Italian rice balls); Tagliatelli Roma Mia; and Filetto Calibrese. Also, be sure to look at the specials board, especially for good sea-food - the scallops are a must! The pudding menu is wonderful, but the only way to top off your meal is with some of Marco's magnificent coffee and a liqueur. Massimo, Michael, Marco and the staff always make you feel very welcome, and will do whatever it takes to give you a truly memorable experience. As a family, we go to this restaurant several times each year, and have yet to be disappointed. Easily one of the best restaurants in Scotland, make the effort to visit Roma Mia - you will be made to feel like a VIP from the moment you walk through the door. One final tip: ask the staff to choose your wine - they really know what they're talking about,

Never fails in it's welcome and quality.
Massimo and Michael treat you as a close friend even if it's your first visit.
The choice is pure Italian and if you were to come up with something that's not on the menu, you get the impression that they'd still be able to produce it for you.
Been going here now for some years and can definitely recommend it.

“Don't bother going to Rome.....................”
Reviewed May 22, 2011

If you want the 'real Italian' dining experience, you will find it at Roma Mia. We chose to eat here based solely on Tripadvisor recommendations and I'm very glad we did.

I've eaten in countless 'Italian' resataurants in the UK and Roma Mia is one of the few which delivers the real deal. Nearly all of the dishes on the extensive menu are regional specialities, with several (unsurprisingly) being Roman. You will not find such oddities as 'spag bol' on the menu, although they will be happy to make it if that's what you want.

Service is friendly, informal and unobtrusive. The waiters appear to have a good rapport with their 'regulars' and are more than happy to recommend dishes and explain how they are made if required.

The wine list consists of mainly Italian favourites and is well chosen. We washed down our meal with a nicely chilled Frascati at a shade under £20 although, if you want to spend a bit more, there are plenty of opportunities !

Roma Mia is now firmly on my list of 'preferred restaurants' in Glasgow. I can see it becoming a regular haunt.

“Good food and great staff”
Reviewed February 22, 2011

Went to Roma Mia for a birthday meal and had never been or heard of it before. We were a party of 10, the staff were warm and informative from the start, most of our group went for Steak which everyone enjoyed. The few that went for the more authentic pasta's loved theirs too, in fact one said it was the best lasagna they had ever eaten.

The food was great but the most outstanding part of the meal was the service and staff. will definitely be back.
