Description: The original La Bonne Auberge first opened its doors on Bastille Day in 1975, and it's had something to celebrate ever since. Glasgow's first French-Mediterranean brasserie and Bar, this smart restaurant with its aproned waiters and blackboard menus now has an AA Rosette to confirm what the locals have known all along. Set in the fashionable Theatreland district, this is a feast of Riviera cuisine.

Enjoyed a fabulous 2 course meal here followed by cinema tickets to local cinema. Excellent quality, presentation and value. The standard of food and service was first class, and enjoyed a visit to cinema included in the price of £19.95

“Nearly perfect”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

Have stayed in this Holiday Inn so many times, but you always feel you should get out and about rather than taking the easy option of the restaurant downstairs, how wrong I have been!

Didnt arrive until 9pm but no problem getting a table, 10pm cut-off they said.

Pleasant young waiter who recommended a nice wine and kept us topped-up throughout.

Starters of Scallops with Black Pudding.
3 nicely cooked scallops, could have done with some more of the Stornoway black pudding to be honest, quite a mean portion.
Thai Soup - wow this was amazing, spicy broth with red chillies, prawns, and coconut, absolutely cracking soup, in fact calling it soup does it an injustice!

Mains:
Duck breast, on pancetta and creamed cabbage, very nice.
Fillet steak with mushrooms, not cheap at £29.50, this was almost sent back, it was certainly not the Rare that I had requested, more medium to well-done, but it was really excellent, charred on outside and moist inside, and thoroughly enjoyed. Loads of tasty wee button mushrooms.
Sides of mash - which could have done with some butter and seasoning, and a 'portion' of buttered spinach.
A complaint - £3.50 for a portion of spinach that would hardly fill an egg-cup is a complete rip-off!

Desserts - fresh fruit with sorbet, and a cheese platter.
Both good although the cheese was clearly just out of the fridge, cold, hard and tasteless. I left it for 10mins to help, but by this time the staff were preparing the tables for breakfast!

Very enjoyable, nice service and atmosphere, would have been a 5/5 but for the over-priced spinach, cold cheese and lack of black pudding.

£120 for 2 x 3 courses, bottle of red, and including service charge.

“Lovely experience”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

We spent three nights in Glasgow and we went to this restaurant twice. We really enjoyed the food which was extremely tasty, well presented and reasonably priced. Have to mention the serving staff who were all excellent and so friendly, especially Louisa who made us feel very welcome.
Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Been coming here for years, I remember my grandparents staying upstairs in the hotel whenever they came to Glasgow. Food's really good, especially breakfast.
