Description: The original La Bonne Auberge first opened its doors on Bastille Day in 1975, and it's had something to celebrate ever since. Glasgow's first French-Mediterranean brasserie and Bar, this smart restaurant with its aproned waiters and blackboard menus now has an AA Rosette to confirm what the locals have known all along. Set in the fashionable Theatreland district, this is a feast of Riviera cuisine.

I ate here with friends again this week and was not disappointed. The menu, while not extensive, is excellent and the food beautifully cooked. The staff are very willing to "mix-and-match" to meet your preferences - nothing's a trouble to them.

If you're in town for a show, DO tell the waiting staff when you need to leave so they ensure their timing is appropriate for you as this is a restaurant where they really try to give you time for a leisurely meal otherwise. The staff are very efficient and pleasant.

If your party numbers three or more, then ask for one of the larger tables at the top with the leather seating.

I attended a private function on the 10th november, for a ruby wedding anniversary with 24 attending guests. Let me start with the starters, the soup, this resembled and had the taste of a tin of chopped tomatoes. Salmon resembled a piece of rubber.

Main meals
The beef dish was full of grissle very hard to eat and digest, so much so the host had to request a cheese board for desert as she hadnt been able to eat her main course. The preparation of the vegetables was very much to be desired overall the dish lack any professional skills from preparation to execution of the meal.
This disappointment was deepened on the information that your establishment was a member of the beef club and the quality of the meat was deteriated due to the cooking of it.

Deserts
the lemon posset
This was garnished with what i think was a strawberry coulis, however this was solid on the plate and wasnt edible.

Service
Good two service staff, however very understaffed for the demands of the function.

Overall very disappointed certainly wont be returning and i also speak for the other 23guests.

Thank you for your review. Clearly some supplier issues and we will address this. A drop from our usual high standard. Please accept our apologies, we take your feedback most seriously and will adress each of the points raised. Once again, many thanks

Wary that it appeared to be a holiday inn restaurant, but on checking out before we ate found the bar area was buzzing and plenty of diners in the restaurant. Returned with friends and the reception from staff was faultless. Comments about small portions we all thought were without foundation as there was ample for all four of us. Having said that all of us are what would be considered slim, but I have been accused of being a gannet amongst other things. The salmon in beetroot marinade was good, the wood pigeon gorgeous, then the mains of sea bass were cooked to perfection with moist flesh and crispy skin, whilst the duck was slightly overdone for me, but was to our friends request (not too pink -what a waste) We ordered one side of mash, between two of us as the others found their plates ample without. The attention of the guys waiting on us, and friendliness was faultless.
One slight comment is I would have given a 5 mark but both starter and mains took about 10 mins too long to arrive. Previous comments have cited the ambience, and all I can say is that it was fine for us, but perhaps could have had the lighting slightly lower..
