“Another excellent meal”
Reviewed May 8, 2014

First went to the Shish in the 60's when menu was limited like all the curry houses in the area but great curry at reasonable price. Followed them to different premises and the quality of the food has never changed over the years. Bit of a journey for us now to get there but we still go when we can. Just had another excellent meal from the lunch menu which has a good selection (both menus), and look forward to a return visit soon.

“Excels at excellence”
Reviewed May 6, 2014

We have been going to the Shish on a regular basis for a few years now, both at lunchtime and evening dining. The staff are always welcoming, efficient and professional. They really do make us feel special and it is part of the appeal that draws us back time and again. The choice of food on offer from the fixed price lunch menus is unsurpassed by ANY restaurant within Glasgow's West End and probably Greater Glasgow for that matter. Take a look at the menus on their website and you will be impressed. The prices belie the superb quality of the food and tastiness of the dishes presented. If you prefer to try the a la carte then you will be even more impressed. We visited for an evening meal recently. The starters are soooo good, particularly mixed pakora or lamb chops and they are substantial in portion size so sharing is sometimes a good idea. Our favourite main courses are the chicken and lamb patia dishes. They are just wonderful if you wish a flavoursome dish without too much spicy hotness. Nan bread is always straight out of the tandoor and is the size of an elephant's ear so you need to be hungry to pack it all away. It's difficult to try out other restaurants when the Shish is so consistently good but we do and as the proverb says "Absence makes the heart grow fonder". 'nuff said.

“Shish Mahal is a Wonderful Institution ”
Reviewed May 6, 2014 via mobile

I first enjoyed a visit to the original Shish Mahal at the top of Gibson St 1965 ..I visit Shish Mahal very regularly and have never been
disappointed .You find Shish Mahal in Park Road in Glasgow West end just off Great western Road ..
The restaurant is still a family run establishment and is renowned for its high quality service serving excellent Asian offering which many enthusiasts regard as the "original " curry house ..It is still run by the Ali family after all those years it has climbed the ladder of excellence and is the place to take a food connoisseur to impress them with the food which is simply the best on offer anywhere is Scotland ..it's
Well worth a visit to this very fine establishment ...

“We perhaps expected too much - slightly disappointing”
Reviewed May 4, 2014

I heard about the Shish Mahal years ago and this was my first visit. Extensive menu including fish and vege options. Attentive service from an army of staff, although my second beer was forgotten. Good chapati and mains although the advice about the vege option from the knowledgeable waiter could have been rather more precise concerning the spice level of the vege dish we ordered. The price of my king prawns at 17.50 was, like the dish, overdone. Not a bad experience but there are plenty of other Glasgow options.
