Description: Established in 2004, Dakhin was the first authentic South Indian restaurant in Scotland. Set amidst the centre of Glasgow's Merchant city district, it offers diners a vast array of speciality dishes from India's southern region. We're talking about authentic recipes using fresh natural ingredients from award-winning chefs. Food worth talking about, and a warm dining experience to savour. Dakhin proudly features within the Michelin Guide and comes highly recommended by many food critics. If you are looking for something different from your run of the mill Indian restaurant then you'd best be sure not to miss out.

“A great change from the norm”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2014

Really enjoyed our visit to Dakhin. Having been there once previously several years ago,it felt like a new experience. The menu is extensive with a wide selection of choices. Without the typical naan and pakoras, we were forced to branch out to different choices including a mixed platter to start and a few different dosas. All were delicious. The waiter provided several recommendations, all of which were on the money, including my main of flame cooked sea bream with a spicy sauce. Only slight downside was the price - felt it was a bit too expensive for what we had, but only marginally. Will certainly be back soon.

“Really nice curry”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014 via mobile

Having been to dhabba on several occasions I thought it was about time we tried dakhin.
Quality of the food was very good, certainly on par with dhabba. Decor wasn't as nice but I dont go to a restaurant to look at the walls, its the food that counts and I couldnt complain, very good and very tasty.
Bit disappointed I couldn't get a nan bread but the dossa was very nice.

“This was one of the most delicious restaurant meals I've eaten in ages”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 6, 2014

Some difficulty finding the place as is up a stair but well worth it, the staff were lovely, the room warm and welcoming on a horrible January night and the food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back, not sure why it has taken me so long to "discover" it.

“First class curry”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 31, 2014 via mobile

I went to the Dakhin following a nearby midweek networking event. I had been several times before but not for a while. The decor is bright and modern with a nice first floor view overlooking Candleriggs and the City halls. There is a welcoming coal fire at the back of the restaurant and the kitchen is open for the diners to see which I like. The service is friendly and efficient. My colleague being unfamiliar with the menu asked for recommendations and wasn't disappointed. The food is superb. Don't expect pakora or nan bread etc that is served in run of the mill Indian restaurants, this is authentic South Indian cuisine expertly prepared and delicious. One of my favourite curry houses.

“Out of the ordinary”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 29, 2014

Don't be put of by the rather scruffy entrance and drab decor, the food and service are excellent. We were greeted by a cheerful and polite waiter who took our order promptly but without hurrying us. Whilst waiting for our meal we were presented with some nibbles, as well as standard lime pickle there was a very tasty tomato dip and fiery dried coconut.
We opted for a chicken dish and a vegetable dish with rice and a dosa to share. The dosa is an essential choice when you eat here, a wonderful alternative bread.
The bill was a bit of a surprise when it arrived, 25% had been deducted because we were early so got the pre-theatre deal!
Thoroughly recommend this establishment, but spruce up the entrance!
