In 2001 he returned to Scotland to open his own restaurant in the city centre of Glasgow, Le Chardon d'Or. Since his return he has been acclaimed as one of Scotland's most prominent and accomplished chefs. He perfected his craft by leading a brigade of 18 notable chefs in the famed Two Michelin Starred restaurant Le Gavroche in London, alongside culinary legends Albert Roux & Michel Roux Jrn. Every year Le Chardon d'Or plays honoured host for these lifelong friends, Brian & Michel Roux Jrn to re-unite and deliver what is the most exclusive and sort after culinary event to take place in Glasgow, the'Le Gavroche' evening. 15 years on, Brian and his team still deliver an unrivalled fine dining experience to Glasgow residents and visitors alike. “Quiet atmosphere and good food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 27, 2012

Lunch time set menu. Limited choice but very good quality overall. Menu descriptions underplay the quality of cooking and what you see on your plate. Smooth and delicious parsnip soup; pork medallions and a very French ragout of green lentils; lovely ice-creams, including a five spice ice cream. Good value Merlot to go with the meal. Very good service and, overall, a quiet, relaxed atmosphere.

“wow....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 26, 2012

i booked this place recommended by a friend a number of years previously for my dads birthdya, for which i was flying home.

Outstanding is the only word. Food was full of flavour, and good size portions - meaning 3 of us couldn't even look at the desert menu. With coffee the Maitre D' presenting a plate with "Happy Birthday" in chocolate with a candle and truffles. Small touches like this set a place out from the "hum drum" and with the exceptional quality of the food makes Brian Maule a real jewel in the Glasgow and Scottish restaurant scene.

I look forward to my next visit.

“Best Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 24, 2012

I've had 8 business lunches in the last month, all around the same budget. 3 of them were here. The other 5 don't even come close! This is the place. Outstanding quality of food and service at sensible prices. Feels exclusive without the price tag - which would just mean not going back! A great place for business and pleasure.

“Great lunch.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2012

Had a wonderful lunch. Service was great as was the food. Excellent value lunch menu washed down with really nice house wine. Left with a smile on my face and that satisfied feeling after eating really good food. Booked a table for another time. I won't bore you with all the details of what I ate and drank; let me simply say - highly recommended!

“Perfect night out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 17, 2012

I went with my husband to celebrate our anniversary on 13th October for dinner. everything was perfect - the service wonderful, professional and unobtrusive. I read a recent review here that said there was no atmosphere and totally disagree - the restaurant was cosy on a cold night, lit really well and there was plenty of low level chatter. The food was amazing, homemade bread and amuse bouche, scallops & seared tuna to start and then john dory with girolles & artichokes - it was perfect. Dessert was HUGE - and I asked if I could have a napkin to wrap up our afterdinner sweeties that came with our coffess (for our little girl) and got a huge big bag of sweeties to take away, now this is not a big thing - and some would say that well if you are paying £X for dinner then expect it- but actually, it was just nice! I would absolutely go again and recommend to everyone looking for a great Glasgow restaurant.
