Gamba must be the best place in Glasgow to eat fish and seafood. Just been again and the food was outstanding. The fish soup is therapy in a bowl and gives a lingering feeling of well being. The scallops were excellent and as ever the service perfection. Cannot recommend it enough.

We had a very nice meal at Gamba. Food was prepared quite well. Unfortunately, we went on a very warm evening and it was almost unbearable. No climate control other than leaving the door open. I understand Glasgow doesn't usually get that warm, but it was really unpleasant. We didn't stay for dessert as we couldn't wait to leave. Unfortunate.

Gamba serves the classics as well as interesting, new, dishes. Most are sourced in Scotland, the home of fine fish and seafood. I had excellent smoked salmon to start followed by scallops en papillote, both very well prepared and presented. Gamba has a good range of beers and wines which match the food well. The waiting staff are friendly, attentive and very efficient; they are the strongest part of this high end seafood restaurant.
The only quibble I had with it is that it down a flight of stairs in a basement and thus has poor disabled access, which meant it could only get a maximum of four, which it did. In this respect I hope Glasgow City Council provides grants for disabled access so that more people can enjoy the fine food in this very good restaurant.

I chose the cod main which I was looking forward to. However I could barely taste the beautifully cooked cod because it was overpowered with the citrus gravy. My fiancé chose the monkfish with scallops. The sauce it came with also seemed to drown out the succulent flavours of the fish. Our night was also somewhat disturbed by a table of rude yobs who caused a scene by shouting at the waiters and finally called the chef a rude word. Before leaving they chose to announce to the restaurant that they'd had a terrible meal blah blah...all anyone did was stare and laugh at them as they'd only embarassed
themselves!I plan to return to gamba and I would try something else on the menu. I hope that those diners would not be allowed back in after making everyone feel uncomfortable and ruining the waiting staff's and chef's night!
