Description: "Deagh bhiadh, deagh bheannachd" Well fed, well blessed. It's this sense of Hebridean hospitality that makes Café Gandolfi such an incredible long standing institution in the Glasgow scene. Opened in 1979, and pioneering the Merchant City into becoming the hub of bars and restaurants that it is today, Gandolfi is a truly well loved and frequented corner of Glasgow. From the main café with its iconic Tim Stead furniture downstairs, the hidden treasure bar up in the attic boasting gorgeous cocktails and atmosphere, to the glamorously sleek Gandolfi Fish two doors up with its adjoining little sibling Fish To Go, this little section of the Merchant City looks set to continue keeping the bar toweringly high when it comes to all things good food, good wine and great hospitality.

Having visited Glasgow for well over 20 years, I cant believe I have never been before. Although I have tried Gandolphi Fish, just along the street

Ok was just for a breakfast but what a lovely breakfast it was. Eggs en cocotte was a new one for me and did not disappoint. Delicious baked eggs with ham & cheese. Great coffee too.

Will definitely go back to try lunch or dinner. The specials board looked really good.

I went here recently with my boyfriend to celebrate a birthday. And we did so in style at the fabulous Cafe Gandolfi. Their black pudding is famous amongst Glaswegians and a must to try when visiting. We've also visited for breakfast and I truly believe they offer the best in Glasgow. Lovely setting and always busy. Truly a Glasgow institution.

Just had another fabulous lunch in a Cafe Gandolfi with the family but I fear they are pricing themselves out of the market. £110 for 4 with one shared starter and a main each - ok we had a bottle of wine but getting too expensive. Highlight was the caramel shortcake on the sweet menu which came as a slab of carmel shortcake( ok that's what we ordered ) on a side plate with nothing else - no cream/ ice cream or even a strawberry halved. C' mon guys you are better than that

It is tempting to refer to Cafe Gandolfi as one of Glasgow's great institutions but that might make it sound stuffy which it isn't. What it is is one of the city's best and most reliable eateries. Our party of eight thoroughly enjoyed all that was served in my case from the Cullen skink through the monkfish in Parmesan crust to coffee. We only missed dessert because they kindly served our own birthday cake. There is an interesting wine list and we sampled a more-than-decent Malbec. Service was friendly and smartly efficient with our waitress only too happy to help ensure we all had a great time. Along with its nearby sister Gandolfi Fish this should be on any Glasgow diner's short list.

Nice breakfast choice in nice, very frinedly interior. Lovely staff.
It was busy & it took 20 min. till the food arrived but you can let staff know if you're in a hurry.
All was fresh, very tasty but you pay for the name on the door.
Coffe/tea is in addition, so you easily spend £15 for all as there is no fixed breakfast menu price as you find in other places.
Would recommend & go again to try out their dinner which looked good.
