Description: "Deagh bhiadh, deagh bheannachd" Well fed, well blessed. It's this sense of Hebridean hospitality that makes Café Gandolfi such an incredible long standing institution in the Glasgow scene. Opened in 1979, and pioneering the Merchant City into becoming the hub of bars and restaurants that it is today, Gandolfi is a truly well loved and frequented corner of Glasgow. From the main café with its iconic Tim Stead furniture downstairs, the hidden treasure bar up in the attic boasting gorgeous cocktails and atmosphere, to the glamorously sleek Gandolfi Fish two doors up with its adjoining little sibling Fish To Go, this little section of the Merchant City looks set to continue keeping the bar toweringly high when it comes to all things good food, good wine and great hospitality.

The staff at the Gandolfi are quietly professional, which is fine but when you're dining early with a couple of kids I'd expect a little more engagement and effort. The wine we choose was excellent but the food lacked something all round. My boys Mac and cheese was uninspired and unfinished, a first I think for a family favorite. My Orkney steak was missing a little flavour but the chimmichurri that came with it was awesome! More seasoning please!

Really good, friendly atmosphere. The food was lovely, interesting choices for veggies and fish eaters - but some serious looking meaty stuff too. All well presented and high quality. The caramel shortbread was fantastic treat! The service was excellent too.

This is one of my favourite places in Glasgow but on a recent visit in April I was very disappointed by the scallops which were offered on the specials board - they were as tough as old boots. This was a family night out as a treat by another family member so I was reluctant to cause a fuss. Another member of our group also felt that the fish they had ordered was not up to the mark. the atmosphere here is always good and the service was excellent but the food was not to the usual high standard.

This is a lovely fish restaurant in the Merchant Quarter which has an excellent vibe. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. They provide a comprehensive fish menu and the meal we had was very good in particular my Ginger chilli clam Chowder. If you are a fish fan this is definitely worth a visit.

Some of our party thought the food was very good. A few went for breakfast the next day and were impressed with that too.

I had the white pudding to start. It was nice but came with big lumps of apple that just didn't do it for me. The spaghetti and meat balls were a real disappointment. The sauce wasn't great and the meatballs were dry.

The service is great nd the wine list very good too. But overall, a mixed bag.
