“Terrible door staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

Was in here for the first time last night and can honestly say I will never be back. The pub itself was okay, however, after having a meal, me and my friend went out for a cigarette, as soon as we got outside the doorman said to me that she was not allowed back in. Now I could understand if she'd actually done anything wrong but the fact is we had literally just stepped outside. I guess he just took an instant dislike to her which is completely out of order. He was a tall, kinda muscular dark skinned guy with a horrible stinking attitude, oh and he also refused to get the manager to come and speak to me despite me repeatedly asking. So manager/owner of the Horseshoe bar, if your reading this, I think you need to have a review of your door staff as they are losing customers and giving the place a bad name.

“Best £4.50 you can ever spend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 18, 2014

Had the 3 course lunch on a saturday. Superb value and more importantly what very good food.Had a lovely vegetable broth to start, followed by haggis neeps and tatties which was so tasty. Home made rice pudding to finish. The pud is something of a Glasgow legend and you can see why. The upstairs dining room is both friendly with nice staff and then go downstairs to the bar area which is what I can only describe as being what Glasgow is about. Busy, friendly, good atmosphere and nice prices.

“Good pub !”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2014

I visit the Horseshoe as part of an annual pilgrimage to Glasgow for a Burns celebration. Pretty full on a Friday lunchtime, but usually able to find a corner, and the locals seem friendly enough to welcome even a Sassenach onto a spare end of their table.
Good pint if limited choice (usually seems to be Deuchars plus a couple of others on hand pump). Good value stodgy pie chips and beans to soak it all up.
Love the place !

“Racist staff”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 2, 2013

Racist door staff. They singled out the Non Scot. I find it more than a little Ironic that they praise blue light workers on International TV. The Reality is DISGUSTING. I wish a score of Zero was an option.

“Excellent traditional bar in the centre of Glasgow”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2013

The Horseshoe bar is one of the few authentic bars left in Glasgow. Always a good selection of beer, real ale and whisky. The food is basic and very affordable. Try a Scotch pie and a pint.
The location is walking distance from central and queen street stations and very close to a number of hotels. The clients are mixed from business men to students. The karaoke are worth participating on a Friday but arrive early for a seat.
