A smaller version of Trafalgar Square. Instead of Nelson though, you have Sir Walter Scott in the middle. Some great architecture surrounding the square. Pity about the amount of pigeons and gulls. All the statues are covered in birds muck! People are feeding the pigeons which encourages the numbers. Be aware you might get pooed on.

George Square is full of historic monuments and statues. It is worth about 20 -30 minutes just walking around taking in some of the historic buildings and architecture. Usefully, it is the start point for the Glasgow Hop on – Hop off bus too.

There are lots of statues in the square and this is very much a happening place for other things to visit... The place for the Hop on Hop Off. Big statue of Sir Walter Scott, war heroes etc.

We had visited Glasgow for the weekend and passed through George Square several times walking and on the Glasgow Sightseeing buses that have a stop here which is quite close to Weatherspoon's Counting House Pub. George Square is a great popular place with tourists. You can check out all of the architecture, statues and the cenotaph here or just sit and chill and people watch. The Square is also a central place for access to Glasgow shopping. While we were here there was a cycle race through the square and various entertainers here including a Scottish band who were really good.

The swirl of people surrounded by traffic and grazing bird life makes this square hard to enjoy.
Some good and some really bad buildings available.
