“What you would expect from Premier Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Standard Premier Inn hotel but noise from road traffic quite noisy. Noise from late night and early morning guest movement was quite frustrating.

TV remote control and shower gel/shampoo dispenser in bathroom did not work. not much of an issue to me but there could be a bot more attention to detail by housekeeping.

Overall it served a purpose and would probably stay there again if necessary.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not overlook the road!

Although, as a budget chain, you perhaps shouldn't expect too much from the likes of Premier Inn or Travellodge, I was pleasantly surprised with my first trip to Glasgow George Square. The staff were on the money - we arrived at 11am and they let us check in early rather than coming back at 2pm. The room was at the back of the hotel overlooking the church and graveyard which meant it was nice and quiet/atmospheric, rather than plagued by road noise. Also of note - we were able to leave our bags with the hotel after we checked out (left at 9am and came back at 4pm before our return train) which was especially helpful as it saved us lugging them around Glasgow.

Only slight downside was the paper thin wall (so you can hear the next room quite audibly) but if it's a real problem, they apparently change your room without much fuss.

The location was also excellent - ten mins from Glasgow Central, or five mins from Queen Street and the subway. Also a short stroll in to the Merchant City. Great base to explore the city from.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel overlooking the church

Stayed one Sunday night when in Glasgow for a concert. Clean and friendly with attentive staff with good knowledge of Glasgow. Room well presented and clean. Staff helpful on check-in, even showing us how to check in automatically. Only reservation was that the restaurant seemed to being some sort of menu change and only limited snacks available in the afternoon due to prices being changed. Would certainly stay again though. Came into Glasgow by bus so no car parking required, but I think that would be the only problem on weekday visit.

Two of us were attending the Track Cycling World Cup at the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome, the hotel was ideally placed for access to the Buchann Street bus station to catch the shuttle buses to the arena.
Also easy to access from the airport via the No 500 bus.

The location was also great as we could walk into the heart of Glasgow to enjoy the bars and shops. Big choice of this hotel over the other Premier Inn was the quieter location.

Room Tip: My room was facing the back (overlooking the graveyard!) very quiet.

We planned ahead and bought tickets for the opening night at Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome. Travelling by train with our folding bikes [it sounds sad - but you should try it!!] we arrived at the hotel and checked in. Great reception staff greeted us EVERY time we arrived back at hotel - even when we were dripping wet from a cycle through miserable storm. We had a great room overlooking the quiet green at rear of hotel. Great location and easy walk to thriving Merchant City area for food and drink.

Very good overall however not to much info on parking around so here it is, Car park directly accross road approx. 100 yards TNCP deal, pick up token that is stamped on exit by premier inn cost is £8.00 for 24hr. period. Highly recommend will return, only gripe as always breakfasts are over priced but food is good generally.

Just arrived back from a weekend away with my Husband & 2 young boys. We couldn't fault this hotel at all, it is a stones throw from St Georges Square & the Christmas Lights are breathtaking, although we were too early for the Ice Rink, that may be a good excuse to go back!

The staff are very friendly & nothing was any trouble to them, the only criticism I have we asked if the hotel done kids bed guards as out toddler isn't 2 until the end of December, but they didn't do them!

We ate in the restaurant (breakfast & evening meal) & the food was delicious, can fully recommend the sticky chicken & ribs mmmmmmmmm

Will definitely be heading back to this hotel!
