2 of us ate here on a Saturday evening in January. The Ivy India has recently opened in Newton Mearns, and we thought we'd give it a try. On arrival we noticed a large skip outside, and it’s clear that whilst the dining area has been refurbished, it looks like the place still has some work to go until all areas of the place are finished. The restaurant was busy, and I think its popular with people as it offers an Indian buffet. We were seated in a room to the side of the main dining room, with 8 or 10 tables, lights that were too bright and a big TV showing Saturday night TV..not exactly the atmosphere we were expecting. Neither of us enjoy buffet's so we opted for the A la cart menu. Starters of veg pakora and chicken chat arrived suspiciously quickly (picked from the buffet possibly), and whilst the portions were large, the food was a bit lukewarm, and both of us agreed, weren't the best. Mains of a fatty lamb bhoona and chicken Shakuti arrived almost as soon as the waiter had cleared our starters. Again, large portions, but not great. Also when the rice arrived, it was hard, almost baked. My wife asked for a new one, and when the waiter brought the replacement, he indicated the "chef must have put the first rice in the microwave too long!" Not good. The bill for 2 starters/2 mains, bread and 2 and a half pints, came in at roughly £45. There are way better Indians restaurants in Glasgow than this place, and even locally, try New Turban at Eastwood Toll or Zyka. Avoid this unless you like buffets, and large portions of mediocre food in a soulless place.

We decided to try the Ivy India, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. We were glad to take advantage of the Buffet dinner, which consisted of a starter, main course and dessert. Food of excellent quality! The staff were extremely pleasant and Rai, the manager, was very friendly. We would certainly recommend this restaurant to others. Will be returning soon!

This was a big disappointment ,went for a birthday meal after reading good reviews, everything we had with chicken was dry and tasteless never experienced this before at an indian restaurant,my partner had some of the lamb dishes which were okay, even the pakora was inedible ,how they can make chicken in a sauce as dry as that i will never know, the nan bread was an odd spongy texture ,what a waste of money still don't know why we paid for it.

This is our favourite Indian restaurant at the moment. The food is freshly made and well presented with loads of choice for both starters and main courses and at night there is a lovely selection of desserts to choose from (including a chocolate fountain). The staff are all really friendly and nothing is too much bother for them. There is a nice calm atmosphere in the restaurant which is all credit to the management of the restaurant and the chefs who are constantly preparing dishes in the kitchen and topping up the buffet area. Very good value for money. We just love it. Keep up the good work!!
