Description: The Kings Cafe is a Glasgow institution. Situated just off Sauchiehall Street on Elmbank Street and across the road from the Kings Theatre (Hence the name!) it has been providing fish teas to generations of Glasgow theatre goers. Under new management from 1st February 2013, a new focus is going to be put on restoring the menu to homemade classics and traditional wholesome Scottish food.Homemade soup, lasagne and macaroni cheese are now on the special boards - and the fantastic fish teas are still to be had.So whether you're looking for a soup & salad roll at lunch or an after theatre fish supper; the Kings Cafe is the Glasgow institution you should visit.

“Good food at good price”
Reviewed July 23, 2014

Arrived on Sat evening when everything was either shut or too expensive. Was delighted to find it and was told it keeps open till 4am! Homely good food at very reasonable price.

“Tasty haddock and chips in traditional cafe”
Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

This is a lovely place for a bit of history. A snug cafe with interesting interior. Staff are friendly. The haddock is superb. Beautifully cooked in a light batter and a fair portion of chips. Large bottle of water makes a change too. Worth the walk and good to experience a wee bit if Glasgow history.

“For a quick bite, yes!”
Reviewed April 26, 2014

I followed the advice of a local and found this hidden gem, more than a century old, and it has plenty of history on the walls as well as plenty of real-life ambience. Had an excellent fish and chips, a huge portion. The fish was very fresh and the chips were chunky, just the way I like it. Perfect midnight snack.

“A hidden gem in the heart of Glasgow”
Reviewed April 22, 2014

Forget about razzmatazz, this place has character and tradition. Photos of days gone by complimented by an efficient and cheerful service made our evening. The fish supper was excellent with properly made chips not to be got in other restaurants. Excellent value for money and the owner should be congratulated for keeping this gem shining.

“Quick bite”
Reviewed April 19, 2014

Could be cleaner and clear the tables faster. Service is also a bit slow. It's really care and chippy type food. Prices are ok but on a Saturday lunchtime they had no panini is and no baguettes. Even though it wasn't busy.
