We decided to visit the Masala Twist Restaurant on the unequivocal recommendation of the hotel staff at Citizen M: apparently this is where they all go for their takeaways.

The Restaurant is located next to a fish and chip shop, up an anonymous flight of stairs. The Dining Room is bright and comfortable, and the service prompt and friendly.

My partner chose Chicken Tikka Masala from the main menu, and was pleased when this came with a separate jug of sauce, so that she could add just as much or as little as she wished to the generous portion of chicken that was delivered.

I chose four meat curry dishes from the separate Thali menu, and I was not disappointed, with each dish looking and tasting different to the next - and a giant naan bread as accompaniment, to soak up the spicy sauces on offer. And all washed down with a cool glass of Cobra . . .

This was good food, served well, at a reasonable price, and we will certainly return on our next visit to Glasgow.

(Incidentally, the Restaurant offers a discount to diners staying at the Citizen M hotel in Renfrew Street, although this does not extend to choices from the Thali menu.)

I've visited Masala Twist a few times now and every time I visit I leave feeling absolutely delighted (and with a big belly).
The decoration of the restaurant is lovely and the staff are more than welcoming from the moment you enter the place until the minute you leave. The waiter Lalit, is always very helpful and even made us some of his own special 'spicy' cocktails which were unusual but delicious! My boyfriend is allergic to nuts and so the staff are always great at helping us find which curries are okay for him to eat.

The prices are very reasonable for the excellent quality of portion size of food you get. And everything is always delicious. I can't fault the place at all!

We were recommended this place by the hotel we stayed in. It was a Monday night and as such, it was not busy when we entered the restaurant. My immediate concerns about the central ceiling decoration being similar to something my family would have been proud to have put up for Christmas in 1984, were dispelled by the attentive and friendly attitude of the staff. The wine list was good and the bottle of Shiraz/Cinsault was gorgeous for the 16.50 we paid. The menu is both extensive and exciting and we had trouble choosing, only because of the many things we wanted to try. The chef interjected our perusal by asking if we would like to try a wild venison broth he'd cooked for the staff which was delicious. After poppadoms and pickles we decided to have the haggis pakoras and (the chef recommended) king prawns. The king prawns weren't on the menu, but their marination and fantastic flash fried flavour were probably the highlight of a fantastic meal. The subsequent main tapas style dishes including homemade paneer, venison curry and excellent naan were both very well executed and well seasoned. We will definitely return.
