“Best fish in Glasgow”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

Service was excellent and food was great especially the fish cake to start with and the seafood stew. We were too full for a desert but had a coffee and that was good to, served with a little bit of tablet it was the perfect dinner. If looking to go to this resturant I would advise to book in advance can get very busy. Can't wait to go back!

“Excellent - well worth visiting”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

We were looking for a restaurant somewhere near to Glasgow airport, where we could have a good meal after a long drive down from North Scotland, prior to returning after dropping off one of our party of 3. We looked at Trip Advisor (as you do) and found The Fish People Cafe. It looked good and was almost on our route, and having no knowledge of it, nor the area, we just put the address into the sat nav and turned up, not really knowing what to expect. The area had the virtue of easy parking, but not much else, but what a surprise when we went inside! We were very clearing wrongly dressed (this is a 'going out place', not a quick stop en route to somewhere) and it required booking a table. However, we were very early for dinner (about 6pm), and the staff couldn't have been more charming in accommodating us. I'm sure we lowered the tone of the place, as it filled up with people out for the evening, but that wasn't apparent from the service we received. The food was superb - excellent muscles with chorizo, and gravalax as starters, seafood linguine and fish stew for mains. The quantities were good, but the quality was excellent - beautifully prepared and presented. As we were driving we did not look at the wine list. We all felt we had a wonderful meal, and congratulations to the chef for producing such an excellent meal. Definitely a place to go and savor, and not just go in for a meal - highly recommended.

“Outstanding!”
Reviewed July 27, 2013 via mobile

My friends and I visited the fish people cafe for the first time and cannot rate it highly enough. The staff were fantastic and the food was just wonderful. We had the anchovies and tapanade between the three of us and it was so tasty. We then had the squid which was cooked to perfection!. For our main course my friend and I had the sea bass and it one of the best fish dishes I have ever tasted. My other friend had the dish of the day which was the sole and he said it was outstanding. We cannot wait to return and intend to try every dish on the menu!. It's about time Glasgow had a fabulous fish restaurant.

“Really disappointing food, despite fantastic fresh ingredients”
Reviewed July 25, 2013

We buy our fish from The Fish People Shop and it is truly fantastic so we were really looking forward to trying out the restaurant, particularly as we'd heard rave reports. We took my son & daughter in law who were visiting from the US so wanted it to be good. The restaurant is in a funny situation, right next to a Car Park but the inside is very nice. The staff were all really pleasant as well. BUT considering their amazing fresh ingredients, the food was really disappointing and very expensive for what it is. We adore fish & you really don't have to do much to make it a sublime eating experience. To our immense disappointment this was really average. Even though we"re local, we won't be going again. There are far better restaurants in Glasgow.

“Signature taste experience”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

I've heard about this place on many occasions, from many different people and for many reasons; the taste, the ambience, the non-sophisticated location but the most welcoming ambience ever. It has started building an 'appetite' in me and of course high expectations are hard to match especially when you know that it has recently been awarded at the DRUM awards as the best new fish resto in town. We were invited by our best man & his lovely wife on a very hot summer evening where fish and good white wine seemed a best way to cool down in the city. Dining al fresco is rare in Glasgow but staff had prepare some tables at best possible way to create that fresh feeling. Rich wine list, prompt, unpretentious, smiling service, attention to detail and flexibility were some of the welcoming traits that make you feel at home. Menu is resourced by family owned fishmonger store next door, so quality and know-how are guaranteed. The recipes introduced are modern in presentation but rich in culinary tradition; Streamed Shetland mussels with chorizo, leeks and lemon - Chunky fish stew with saffron rouille, croutons and gruyere and Shellfish linguine with coriander chilli and rocket, are highly recommended though it is too hard to decide upon several choices from that menu. Definitely should be back for more:) PS. Even Tippex our little pet companion got her part of attention; being also welcomed & offered a nice bowl of cold water.
