“A special occasion....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2014

Had been once before and thought it was suitably special to take my husband for his 50th birthday.

I had booked on-line and requested the Buddha Balcony, apparently you can only get it if you phone up. I stressed to the girl who phoned to tell me that I couldn't have it that it was a special occasion and I would l ike a good table, she assured me of this. However, when we arrived, we had to queue at the front door while a very large booking was sorted out and then our table was right beside 2 other ones, where we could all hear each others conversations.

Slightly disappointed with the service. No prawn crackers for us but others seemed to get them, they forgot our drink order (one bottle of wine should not have been hard to remember) and starters came before wine. Starters and main courses were presented beautifully and tasty, however, fondue dessert was disappointing, 6 grapes, 2 stawberries, 4 pieces of pineapple.

The bill was £115 for 2 so definately for special occasions!

“My favourite restaurant in Glasgow ”

Been here a few times now after impeccable food and service, and cocktails from Palm sugar lounge bar. The food has always been amazing and service again was prompt and efficient. Will continue to return many times

“Good food but let down by the service (as usual)”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 1, 2014

We've been a few times to Chaophyra and the food is always very tasty. The service each time however is poor. Drinks forgotten, wrong orders etc etc. A lot of effort is put into front of house staff meeting and greeting you at the door, but then it all melts away. Our starters were forgotten about and we weren't given any prawn crackers for the table. The waitress was very apologetic but I get the impression there's just not enough staff on to cope. We had to go to and fetch our own coats at the end of the meal and just leave our payment lying around - all a bit unsatisfactory. Wouldn't mind in a normal joint but that's not the experience they're aiming (and charging) for here. Shame.

Went for a late lunch, early dinner. Gorgeous food, lovely, calm atmosphere, would definitely recommend! Wine was gorgeous too. Would recommend the grilled peanut chicken and the weeping tiger from the a la carte menu. We will be back

“Meh”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 31, 2014

Over priced buffet for two promised much but was really just a lot of stuff of indifferent quality. Starters were better than main course which was just incoherent plates of random stuff really. It promised decadent luxury on the menu but many plates do not make luxury on their own. And I had a mojito with LEMON in it which is just plain wrong. Staff were excellent. Dining space felt vast and not quite the place for a romantic night out. More like a nightclub before the dancing starts.
