Description: We serve what we love - quality beers from around the world and high-calibre home-cooking. We also have a passion for live music and regularly play host to some of the most talented bands in Scotland (and occasionally from farther afield). But most importantly, we believe in a high standard of customer service - a welcoming atmosphere, attentiveness and of course, getting your pint in a timely manner (we know you're thirsty)!

“Door staff”
Reviewed June 3, 2013

A group of four of us tried to get in on Sat evening, but were told brusquely that no more large groups were allowed in, when did four become a large group......happily crossed the road to O'Neills where our money was more than welcome. We are four guys in our 50s who were looking for somewhere with a bit of atmosphere, Blackfriars now off our list of places to go as a result of the rude way we were treated

“A warm welcome, fantastic real ale and yummy food”
Reviewed May 29, 2013

The server brought us samples of the ale on tap to try before we ordered our pints, all of which were fabulous. To eat on our first visit, I had the haggis gateau, which I enjoyed tremendously. On our second visit, i had steak, which was great. the sticky toffee pudding was one of the best we've had so far. Service and atmosphere were wonderful.

“Not Great”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

I was in the Blackfriars last week and was disappointed by the staff attitude. We ordered some drinks at the bar and while we were being served some drunk person start saying unappropriated comments to my girlfriend. I was expecting that the staff will ask him to leave and apologies, but because he was a regular customer they just asked us to have a seat somewhere else. The place is really busy so I expect there must be a good side of it and I will definitely give it anther chance.

“A proper pub”
Reviewed April 11, 2013

With a curated selection of real ales, and bottled beers, whiskies and other spirits counting well into the hundreds, Blackfriars has all the makings of a classic pub. The addition of lovely, funny staff; a brilliant atmosphere and a range of delicious pub meals make this my favourite pub in Glasgow.

Not full of students or football fans, it's a wonderful place for a drink or a meal, whether it be 11am or 11pm. They also have a live music venue downstairs, featuring a house band and comedy nights- along with brewing classes etc. Quite a place!
