“Great large hotel in a first class location”
Reviewed July 28, 2013

We got a last minute room deal for a secret hotel and were so happy with what we got. Our room was very roomy with a double and a single bed. We ate in the restaurent and were very happy with price and quality of food.

Parking was just across the street above Matalan and was only £7 for 24 hours which was very good for the middle of the city centre. The loaction of the hotel was excellent. We would definitely stay again. Check in was fast and staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for one not looking onto the railway station

The room itself was nice and clean I could not fault that. However the staff from start to finish were absolutely awful. Firstly there was the extremely rude woman at check in who told us no room was ready when I had phoned less than 2 minutes prior to check it would be. When she eventually decided she might actually do her job and check the computer what a surprise there was a room ready. Not off to the best start. Next was the miserable bar staff who looked and sounded like he didn't want to be there and that everything was a hassle. All we wanted was some ice. He card in the room said ice beside the lifts on all floors. After wandering about we eventually phoned reception and were informed they no longer have ice facilities. They maybe want to update their in room cards then and fix the typos on them. Overall I would not be coming back to this hotel the staff have completely put me off.

I was in Glasgow to attend a conference dinner earlier this month (July 2013)

I was staying with friends in Glasgow, but for the night of the event I stayed here with a friend. we had two beds, and a modern bathroom, no complaints!

The hotel is clean, modern, had a nice bar/lounge and a fine breakfast (included in the price). My friend paid for 24 hours Internet, which was nice to have.

We had a view of the Clyde, and all I can say is that it was a great short stay hotel - I was there less than 24 hours.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Clyde

Hotel is in a great location, right in the centre of Glasgow, it is a 2 minutes walk from St Enoch shopping Centre our room had 2 double beds, it was large clean and modern with a very large bathroom aswell. The train station is right outside but there was no noise from it. Parking was easy to get to, above mataland right across the road, would stay at the hotel again

I stayed for a night on this 9th July. It is a typical three star property providing the basic amenities which makes your stay comfortable. Noteworthy to mention that I was booked initially in the standard room but with an additional payment of ten pounds I was upgraded to superior room category with 24 hours free wifi. Not a bad deal.
As regards parking of your vehicle, the hotel management has a tie up with a parking slot whereby instead of payment of £14 for the day you only have to pay £ 7.
The best part about the hotel is its location right in the heart of Glasgow. Everything interesting for a tourist is at a walking distance
As for suggestive measures. I would say that the hotel management ought to take into consideration that the beds should be more comfortable rather than being too soft.

the main reason for choosing this hotel was the distance from the glasgow central railway station as we would be arriving & departing from that place....the lobby looked ok & the check in was fast....the room was clean & amenities provided ample....but we were in for a shock once we used the bathroom....now ,since we just dumped our luggage in the room & got on with the tour of the city ,we used the bathroom only at around 11 pm once we returned....it was a poor sight....the white floor was full of hair from the former occupant & so was one end of the bath-tub....the only thing the housekeeping people had probably cleaned was the wash-basin....we rang up the house keeping but no one bothered to pick up....we somehow managed that night & since we were to go on a tour of loch ness early in the morning we just informed the reception lady about the problem before leaving....though she assured us tht the bathroom would be adequately cleaned,it wasn't so....only the towels had been changed, while the hair on the floor & bathtub held their pride of place....the housekeeping again did not pick up the phone....we were disgusted at the end of it.....also one of the room key-cards wasnt working & on changing it ,the new one wasn't working as well....the only saving grace was ,maybe the low rates they charge for the room(50 gbp) & maybe that is why the upkeep of the hotel is so lacklustre....

Room Tip: ask for rooms facing the river

This was booked as an overnight stay whilst going to a concert. The hotel is well presented, clean and comfortable within easy walking distance from the train station. The hotel offers buffet meal and coach to and from the concert for £20 each, however we were late on arriving and the coach was full as it is first come first served basis. The staff were most helpful and provided information to make our journey with no hitches. All staff we encountered within the hotel were friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the next morning breakfast buffet. Would look to book this hotel again for a stay whether it be concert or shopping - fab!
