“Like Sleeping on a train platform, then this is the hotel for you!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 1, 2013

I was rather disappointed when staying at Jurys Inn, Glasgow recently. I know it's next to Platform 1 of Glasgow's Central Station, but one would have hoped that that didn't mean you heard all of the departing trains from early morning till late at night!

Although Jurys built their hotel only recently they apparently failed to provide for their noisy neighbour - Central Station, and as a result numerous guests must receive the poorest sleep quality in the city.

Room Tip: Maybe a side room might be better, but rooms to the back are definitely not good for sleeping!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. I am really disappointed that you did not have a good night’s sleep. All our rooms facing the train station have secondary glazing and have been sound tested therefore it seems there was issue with the unit in your room that we need to address. I would be grateful if you could contact me so that we can resolve this issue to your satisfaction and also to ensure no future guests are affected. barry_rowland@jurysinns.com

Great value, location and the service we received was brilliant. Didn't have any complaints at all and we thought the hotel was very clean.
The staff were also helpful and very friendly.

Would recommend this hotel to anyone!

Te location of this hotel is exceptional for all city centre highlights and requirements, however backing onto the railway line can be slightly noisier than would be preferable. The hotel is very simple although the bar food was very well cooked and well priced.

Simply put, you get what you pay for, for a more exotic hotel, you'll need to try the Marriott, Mal or Hilton hotel.

Stayed here very recently for two nights in a room facing the Clyde and close to the railway tracks. I have to say, the excellent triple-glazing on the window cancelled the regular train activity, so I'm baffled at the noisy location comments. Located very close to Central Station, it's a great location for hitting the shops where all the top (and bottom!) retail outlets are close by and waiting for your money! Hotel staff were very friendly and efficient, plus breakfast was excellent and extensive. I stayed here on business and have already recommended it to colleagues and got it placed on our company preferred hotels list.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Clyde river and the Spice Garden indian restaurant just across the bridge...

Central and perfectly situated for the O2 Academy, just a few minutes walk away. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable - no need to take the upgrade offered at £20 - and the staff couldn't do enough for us. Good value snacks available at the Grill, though we didn't venture into the restaurant this time. Excellent value with friendly and very helpful staff.

Stayed 5 days in March. Room 507 corner room overlooking Clyde. No noise from trains, no noise from traffic. Comfortable, warm. Only downside the bathroom fully tiled, was not heated and it happened to be one of the coldest weeks we were there. Breakfasts excellent - so much choice and open for 3 hours every morning. Never crowded, never rushed. All staff attentive. We did have to wait a long long time for our room but was worth it in the end. We spent waiting time in the bar and enjoyed a very nice lunch so we werent all that inconvenienced.

Room Tip: book a room as high as possible with a view overlooking the Clyde. Possibly a corner suite.

The hotel is right next to Glasgow central train station which was very handy and not far for us to walk.
We had booked a family room with a double and a single bed but the room we were given only had a double bed and a sofa bed. This was fine as it was a referbished room over looking Jamaica street and the river Clyde the only problem was that there was no bedding for the sofa bed. I went back down to reception and no sooner I got back to the room 2 sheets were delivered and housekeeping told us to use the bedding off the top of the wardrobe hanging area (two pillows and one blanket). There was still no duvet for the sofa bed so my husband went and spoke to one of the housekeeping staff along the corridor (he was told to go down and ask at reception) Housekeeping said use the blanket but we wanted a duvet for our son (evevn travelodges provide duvets for the sofa beds). House keeping returned with a duvet and a duvet cover for me to put on ;)

Anyway it's a lovely clean & comfy hotel but we never slept very well, first night it was loud drunken guests ( St Patricks day/night/early hours of the next day) and the air conditioning. Next evening it was the air conditioning which we had switched off but it still kicked in and made noises that were loud enough to wake us.

As usual the bathroom products are aimed at the guest taking a shower and not a bath, you have to keep standing up in the bath to get some body wash/shampoo. Well this time I planned for that and took some small toiletries with me. I also treated myself to some lovely bath products from the Arran Aromatics shop which is in the st enoch shopping centre close to the hotel, we also ate breakfast there in BHS.

There are loads of places to shop and eat in the area and the Jurys Inn Glasgow is a great place with a great price (no extra charge for a third adult sharing which is why we didn't stay at the HI Express or Hilton next to the river).

I would stay again.
