This Hotel is ideal for theaters and the Concert Hall, also only a few minutes from the coach station. We had an up-graded room which was spacious with a two seater setee and my only complaint was that the bath was tiny! Apart from that everything was very clean and tidy. We had dinner in La Bonne Auberge and it was very nice, with two very chirpy young waitresses who were very attentive. We stayed on a special D.B.B promotion which was very good value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor at back of Hotel.

Great location and good quality room, albeit a little on the small side and can be noisy due to rowdy guests (not hotels fault)

Bar is small but great staff and nothing is too much trouble and restaurant was very good for the area and service was again excellent!

One problem i had was the silly WIFI rule that you have to get a new code every hour! come on guys get it sorted asap...lets down a great hotel

Room Tip: as for an upgraded room more space and on £15 upgrade

We stayed two nights in October while in Glasgow for a family gathering. The location couldn't be more central for shopping and entertainment, although the area to the rear of the hotel isn't the most salubrious. The staff in all departments were most friendly and helpful; as a Gold Priority Club member I was upgraded to an executive room on arrival. This room was a good size with a seating area, a king bed, bar etc. Although both bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean, some of the furniture was well-used - one wobbly chair, scrapes on a bedside unit, a safe that wouldn't open. However, the bed was very comfortable and since we faced the rear we weren't disturbed much by the noise of the city. Public areas are very smart indeed.
Breakfast was well up to usual Holiday Inn standards, with plenty of fresh hot and cold buffet items and others on special order (the pancakes were delicious!); late on Sunday morning the room was rather crowded, but at 8.30 on Monday morning it was fine.
Having stayed previously at the rather good HI Express next door, I would recommend both places but would prefer this one. With a little room renovation I'd have given it five stars.

Room Tip: For a good night's sleep ask for one facing the rear.

Stayed one night as we were seeing a concert across the road
Staff very friendly and efficient.
Ate in the attached Bonne Auberge restaurant, excellent and very good value.
Buffet breakfast in the morning was also very good.

This wonderful hotel is right in the heart of Glasgow, parking is over the road and there is a pull in just outside the hotel for off loading luggage. Reception is true to its Scottish roots as is all the staff that give you a true flavour of Scotland from the first second you step into the hotel not East European experience the hotels seem to offer these days. When I come to Scotland I want that charm and romance. Check in is warm and friendly and there is a busy atmosphere around the reception bar area, mixed with multi culture of guests. The restaurant serves great food only negative no Haggis was on offer when I was there but the service was fast and effective and food amazing, but Haggis would have been my first choice. Rooms are good size and amenities more than adequate. The reception desk was very helpful to locate different things to do and I would recommend anyone who wants to experience the warmth and charm of Scotland to come to this hotel even the cleaners are from Glasgow. Alan Taylor is the manager and he certainly knows how to run a fantastic hotel.

I have just returned from a one night stay in this hotel. It was chosen because of ideal location for Royal Concert Hall and shops. The bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean and had all the facilities a visitor would need. Excellent breakfast in very nice restaurant, with quick service when ordering something from the menu rather than the buffet. Every member of staff was extremely friendly and helpful.

The only negative aspect was that the bedrooms on the front and side of the hotel are next to the main roads through the city centre, and traffic noise was a major problem through the night, even though I didn't go to bed until after midnight. I would definitely stay here again but would ask for a quiet room. I could not have endured more than one night in room 137 because of the traffic noise. My friends were in rooms at the back of the hotel and didn't hear a thing!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room because traffic noise is a major problem.

Dear reviewer,

Thank you for your recent review of the hotel.

I was delighted to read you enjoyed your time here and found the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful.

I have instructed our maintenance manager to check the window seal of 137 as this should block out most of the traffic noise. We would certainly be able to reserve you a back facing room should you be staying again.

Thank you again for taking the time to review the hotel and we look forward to welcoming you back.

Kind regards,

Check in was quick and easy and the rooms requested at the rear of the hotel on the telephone the day before were granted. Requested rooms at the rear as had read on trip advisor that they were quieter. Rooms have been refurbished, everything in the rooms worked but did find the room quite small and cramped for 2 people. Breakfast had a good choice and cheaper if booked through reception than paying direct at the La Bonne Auberge restaurant. Hotel is near to Sauchiehall shopping street and also the Royal Concert Hall. Walking distance from Buchanan Street bus station and Queen Street railway station. Staff were mostly friendly apart from restaurant manager who was a bit stroppy. All in all a decent hotel in the centre of glasgow.

Room Tip: for a quieter room ask for a room at the rear of the hotel
