“Very central”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

Stayed here for 1 night whilst attending a meeting in Glasgow. I arrived by bus so this hotel is very handy for the bus station- just around the corner-2 min walk away. Also handy for Buchanan Galleries shopping centre.
Room was normal HIE standard - you know what you are paying for. However the only air con was opening the window and being at the back we didn't have the traffic noise but we did have noise from some machinery. It was quite warm but slept ok.
£79 for a night but it was booked last minute. Other hotels in the area didnt include breakfast for the same price.
Check in was quick and easy however was not acknowledged as a Platinum member - asked what perks this hotel offered and was given a bag with water, shortbread and 2 tea bags. If your hotel runs these schemes then you should acknowledge the loyalty especially when you don't have rooms for upgrading like Holiday Inn, crowne plaza etc.
Breakfast was fine and usual HIE fare.
On the whole I would stay here again for the closeness to town if you just need a base then this is ideal.

Room Tip: High floor at back of hotel- no view but no traffic as street outside is busy.

Excellent location, special mention for the front desk staff they were friendly and helpful , the breakfast was adequate the room was clean and tidy, down side was that we couldn't have the window open all night because of the noise at the back of the building, which made it very stuffy, saying that we did book a room there later in our holiday so it didn't put us off.

Great location I have stayed here many times since it first opened. Rooms are always clean, staff very pleasant and helpful and breakfast is adequate. Recently stayed with my 8 year old grandson and it was as good as ever. Check in simple, efficient and early access to room. Nothing was too much bother. Staff all engaged with my chatty grandson. Thank you, it made his holiday. We will be back.

My first time at this hotel staying mid-week in July. Check in was smooth and fast and I was directed towards the key-card controlled lift. It took four attempts to persaude the card reader to work before I could push the button to my floor - Floor 2. My room was close to the lift over-looking the road. The window was closed and the room was very hot so I opened it. I found out why it was closed. The road noise was very loud. Directly below my roon was a four lane road with traffic lights and whioch various buses, coaches, lorries, cars and motorcycles stopped. As the room had no air-conditioning it was either roast or be deafened. There also seemed to be a Fire Station nearby and their passing on "Blues and Twos" really didn't help the situation.
My breakfast the first morning almost was a proverbial "bun-fight". There was a coach party of Japanese tourists having breakfast proving that the breakfast area, "The Great Room", couldn't quite live up to it's name. There clearly wasn't enough room. Day 2 breakfast was better but it does seem that the room could be larger.
OK but next time I'll be asking for a room on a higher floor and at the rear of the building.

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor at the rear of the hotel - away from the noisy traffic

Handy for a central Glasgow stay with a conveniently placed car park just across the road at only £2 per night.
Located on a busy road with no views
Staff at check in were pleasant
I was unhappy with my first room as the loo hadn't been cleaned/flushed from the previous occupants use. yuck.
I was moved to another but this was a smoking room so it felt unpleasant to me. I put up with it simply because after a long journey I simply wanted to relax
Pizza's and burgers can be ordered from the adjacent restaurant and you collect our order from reception if you just wanted to eat in your room
The room was basic and stark with open style wardrobe - not a warm or welcoming feel. There are tea/coffee making facilities.
The small simple bathroom has a shower
This is a very basic hotel and would recommend it for a simple one night stay or consider if your budget is very tight. I will be trying to increase my budget and stay in a room that feels more comfortable next time I am in Glasgow

Dear Guest,

I was disappointed to read that your stay was not satisfactory with us. I can only apologize for the cleanliness of your toilet. As you can see from the numerous comments we have here on trip advisor regarding our cleanliness within the hotel, this was very out of the ordinary.
We do not have any smoking rooms in this hotel as you stated and we would have been more than happy to move you if you had alerted us to your dissatisfaction.

We take on board all comments from our guests in order to help us continuously improve the service we deliver so thank you for your comments.

Booked this hotel for two nights in July and requested an early check-in. When we arrived at 9.10am after an early morning flight our room was ready, although we didn't expect to have it until 10.30am at the earliest. As we checked in the very helpful gentleman told us that breakfast was still being served in the Breakfast room and we were very welcome to have breakfast there, which we did.

This hotel has a lovely atmosphere is very clean and is great value. The service was excellent and the staff could not do enough to help. Rooms are not enormous but are spotless and very comfortable. The breakfast was very good with with something to suit everybody.

The hotel is in a great location with easy access to trains, shopping etc

We would definitely return to this hotel
