“Good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

Stayed 2 nights for Bruce Springsteen concert - overall reasonable hotel, great location 10 mins walk from central station and very close to shops restaurants bars etc. rooms were modern but did not have air con (yes it was really hot at night even in Scotland) and you couldn't get any air into room as window only opened a few inches. There was no safe in the room although we didn't experience any problems and the wi-fi didn't work in our room which was a bit of a pain when you just wanted to check something out. However we had a great trip to Glasgow lots to see and do and everyone was so friendly which really made a difference to our few days away.

Excellent location for shops, restaurants and theatres. Helpful and friendly staff. Very clean and comfortable room. Only 10 minute walk from Central Station or short taxi ride if you have luggage. Only issue was lifts were busy in morning and preferred to use stairs.

Room Tip: Rooms away from lifts are quieter

Attended a business meeting here and was very impressed with the standards, the room we used was ideal for the purpose, good supply of tea/coffee and iced juices and the quality of the buffet lunch received favourable comments from everyone. Staff were efficient and helpful and the city centre location provides easy access from the train and bus stations with parking available right across the road. Would recommend this as a meeting/seminar venue to anyone.

Just spent 3 nights in Glasgow at the Holiday Inn Express Theatreland. Firstly, great location, in central area. Handy for all the shopping centres and Bars. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. Only drawback was the room had 1 electrical point with 3 adults and mobile phone chargers and all the other gear used on a weekend break this was not very convenient. The breakfast was excellent could not fault it. One room tip would be to ask for a higher level room away from the road as we did experience a lot of traffic noise as the weather was warm and we needed to have the window open.
Looking forward to returning at some point in the future.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your kind review regarding your recent stay.
I was sorry to read that you were inconvenienced due to the sockets in the room.
We offer extension leads at reception if required as we know a lot of people carry more than one device and sometimes need more socket space. We advertise this in the lifts for all our guests to see on the way to our rooms.
We hope to see you back at the hotel for your next break.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights away with my husband. I don't think we could have made a better choice. We arrived at Queen Street Station and this hotel was about a 5 minute walk from the station. We arrived about an hour before official check in but we were checked in without any fuss. All the hotel staff that I encountered were helpful and extremely friendly.

We had a room on the 5th floor at the back of the hotel. I was a bit worried as I could hear a fan from the building next door but the double glazing was very efficient and I didn't hear any noise at night.

The room was very clean and had plenty of room for cases etc. The bed was lovely and comfortable with a choice of pillows. There was a soft label on my pillow but it felt really firm to me. There was tea, coffee and kettle in the room but not much decaf supplied. I struggled to connect to the internet in the room but we were the furthest room from the wifi hub I managed to connect in the corridor nearer to the hub.

The bathroom was a shower room with a very powerful shower. The toiletries in the room were pump dispensers with hand soap by the sink and hair and body wash in the shower which i find makes my hair greasy, so I would advise taking your own shampoo and conditioner. The hairdryer in the room worked well.

The included breakfast was good there were pastries, bread rolls, muffins, fruit, cereals, toast and also scrambled egg, sausages and baked beans. I was a bit disappointed there was not any bacon but made up for it with an extra croissant. There were plenty of fruit juices and a very good coffee machine. The breakfast room was kept very clean and restocked continuously.

The hotel Location was perfect for us right near the Royal Theatre that we visited on the Saturday night and near to Buccanan Galleries shopping centre. We walked to the Transport museum one morning which took about 45 minutes (just under 2 miles) You can get the Riversider bus for £1.30 each way or the normal bus service cost us £2.20 ( we got on before we realised it wasn't the cheap bus. We also walked to the Kelingrove art gallery and museum about 20 minutes away. The main shopping areas were only a 5 minute walk away.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to others and will stay here again if we return to Glasgow.

Stayed one night as part of a large hen do in June. Hotels can sometimes be a bit stuffy with hen or stag parties but the staff couldn't have been more welcoming here. Yvonne was brilliant at helping to organise the party for us and Mark looked after everyone so well. No job was too big for Mark and he went out of his way to accommodate us. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel is one minutes walk from the bus station and shops. It is the best hotel I've stayed in for a hen and the staff are amazing. I will certainly stay here again and recommend it to anyone.

Stayed with a group of friends last weekend and the staff could not have been more welcoming. Mark was especially helpful and was a wonderful host. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel for it's standard and location but especially for the standard of care shown by the staff
