“Fabulous Food!”
Reviewed January 21, 2014

Had a Groupon for here (renamed Daawat), and ate in tonight.

We were the only people dining which was a shame as this is a real hidden gem. Staff were magnificent, the food was utterly delicious (not a drop of oil floating on the curry - always a good sign!), particularly the Lamb Bhuna.

For vegetarians, the selection was fab too, with about 12 dishes dedicated to Veggies, plus any of the main courses having an option for mixed veg. The kitchen is wide open so you can see the food being prepared.

You can also BYOB for a small charge, definitely one to dine in if you're in and arounf St Enochs centre. Wonderful!

“Excellent Food, service and value”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

had early evening deal here mid week - £9.99 for 3 course, up to 7pm. Starter was poppadoms with spiced onion - good. We had haggis and lamb chop for starters, both were hot, tasty and plentiful. The lamb chops were so tender and tasty. Chicken and lamb curry for main, chicken was excellent, lamb again in curry was tender. Had one naan and one rice with this, both were very good. The food was excellent and very good value. We have been to many restaurants that do the 2/3 courses for whatever, but food is basic and stingy amounts. Not so here. The restaurant is by no means plush, but still comfortable, staff are friendly and professional. We will definitely be back.

“Great value and lovely food but could be so much better”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

Visited last Saturday for the first time and had a lovely meal. The two course lunch for £4.95 is outstanding value and is on till 3pm on a Saturday. The place is not licensed so you need to bring your own alcohol for which there is a £1.50 per person corkage charge. We were not rushed even though the place was almost empty and the staff were also very pleasant. The food was obviously freshly made and portions were a good size. The downsides are that the place was freezing and maybe more effort could be made in making the restaurant more cozy, perhaps table cloths, little vases with flowers. The place is very clean and freshly decorated but also a little spartan with no pictures, sculptures on the walls etc. I would definitely return but a few little additions to the restaurant would make a vast difference

“Best curry outside India”
Reviewed November 25, 2013 via mobile

Having travelled in India numerous times I can say with confidence this was the best meal I have eaten in a long long time. One chef and a couple of youngsters catered for the whole resturant on a busy Saturday evening and coped admirably. The set menu is outstanding value and not a bit of red food colouring to be seen. Creamy dhal and spicy sauces not overwhelmed with chilli made our dishes delightful. Just remember to take your own drinks if you want. Only disappointment was they no longer cook south indian food...a dhosa would have been a real treat. Well done !!

“Wonderful curry - but lacking in atmosphere.”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

We went on a Sunday evening so there were few tables occupied. However, there were four of us so it did not matter. The food and attention from the chef himself made it a great experience. We will be back!
