i booked this hotel, as i was going to the secc and being not far away i thought greatr.then read some reviews, hmmm?mixed bag really.ok, where to start?renovations;-stair case needs finishing, could do with new windows throughout, shower couldve been cleaner-nail varnish(?) all over it,lumpy bed-but comfortable, cold room.
positives;-1 night stay £39,so not bad, clean enough, nice entrance and lounge area, clean towels, spacious room, location ok, but i think the highlight was the dark haired receptionist-stunning!!!(although a smile would be nice to see)she was gorgeous mind!
made worth the stay, just to see her in the mornings...shame it was only at reception!!!
over all, id stay again, no real issues that were too concerning....

I would rate this hotel as a two star hostel.
Good points: Clean rooms. Welcoming, friendly staff. Presentable exterior. Good location.
Bad points: Misleading description. Tired and dreadful rooms. Old and lumpy beds. Too expensive. Frankly depressing.
Glad I didn't book the over-priced breakfast instead went to a lovely cafe in Kelvingrove Park and ate outside on a lovely sunny November morning.
Would NOT recommend this hotel to anyone I knew and will look for other accommodation next time I'm in the city.

I find it hard to know what to believe when I read reviews online. This hotel was no different. There are just as many good reviews as there are bad. Having stayed at the Devoncove for a few nights I think I can only describe it as disappointing. For the money we paid, we cannot really complain too much. The location was good, certainly for us as we wanted to be in the West End. The room was a reasonable size. It was cleanish (some mould in the bathroom). The main issue we had with this hotel is that it did not live up to our expectations based on what we saw on the hotel's web site. The room we had was nowhere near the standard of those advertised on the web. Also, I guess as a result of the low cost of the room, the hotel seems popular with young people who are in Glasgow for a night on the lash. The result of that was the worst night I have ever spent in a hotel. The party went kicked off when the crowd arrived back from the clubs at about 4am and went on 'till 8am. The highlights including the various points where the action spilled out in to the corridor and the obligatory fight at 7am! If you are one of these party goers then you may love it. If not, probably best avoided if you are not. Not recommended for families.

Stayed over for one night in the hotel - had read the comments from some others and was a bit worried - all I can say is they are talking rubbish - the reception was very helpful and very clean our room was lovely and clean and bright - no problem with the bathroom - if anything the heating was too warm - lovely fresh linen and towels - plenty tea/coffee making facilities in the room - the breakfast room and staff lovely - breakfast was brilliant too - for the money we paid absolutely excellent would stay there again and recommend it

Like many places each hotel has good and bad points,
good points of hotel,
Staff are friendly, rooms are tidy, close to city centre bus stops right outside hotel, TV has freeview which was good and the tv has the dvd player, Room was always warm. toilet was great allways had clean towels. Tea and coffee was good to have in the room.
Bad Points
the room wallpaper was falling off, the stairs to the room looked like something out of a horror film. and from our room we where next to the lift and the noise was quite annoying but was bearable.

beautiful hotel, very clean, spacious luxury rooms, quite inexpensive, located on a main street with public transportation, very close to University, within walking distance of downtown (10-15 minutes), very friendly staff. I just liked everything about this hotel.

I can't believe all the poor reviews about this hotel. We had a nice quiet clean room and a very good Scottish breakfast included. Free Internet service with a strong signal right in our room, this place is good value. Nice bar with draft beer and half bottles of decent wine at a good price to drink in the comfortable lounge.
Convenient location with the 747 airport bus stop right outside. Great for an overnight stop before or after a transatlantic flight. I have booked it again for the night before our flight back to the US.
PS If you like Indian food, the Rahn of Lamb for two at Mother India on the next block is to die for.....
