good value, especially on food.there is a sea of checked shirt wears on which the captain (weird puppet man with no soul) overlooks! highly recommend, brilliant local! point off for the puppet - maybe you could plant a tree?

A jaunty nautical themed decor and friendly staff set the tone at this one-time old blokes pub; now morphed into an important venue on the Glasgow live music scene. Upstairs is cheap and cheerful pub with grub; pizzas and burgers are the order of the day, and food is served until fairly late.

Vegetarians get equal billing on the menu with a selection of 'Herbivore Pizzas' and Captain's Veggie Burgers. We're not talking gourmet food here, just reasonably priced hearty pub grub to soak up a few pints of your favourite ale. Being a pub there's no pressure to leave once the food is finished.

Captains Rest is something of an icon on the Glasgow music scene and has a popular gig venue downstairs. The pub tends to get crazy busy on both gig nights and when there are big sporting events being shown on the big screen. Captain's is a popular, much loved pub with a youthful vibe and no pretensions; a good place to kick back and relax. Posh it isn't, friendly it is.

Its would be easy to overlook Captains Rest, hidden in plain sight in Glasgow's West End on the Great Western Road. Don't be afraid to step inside this quirky wee pub and give it a go. The welcome is warm.

There is a brief sample menu on their website.
