“The Fabulous Radisson SAS”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2008

After reading some of the very average reviews of this stunning hotel, I felt compelled to share my own exemplory experiences of the Radisson SAS Glasgow. As a regular visitor, I can safely say that the Radisson SAS is easily one of the best hotels in the city. The rooms are modern and amazingly well insulated, the gym is superb, discounted parking is available adjacent to the hotel, the location is about as central as is possible and the Central Railway Station is just across the road. A definate must for any visitor to the City!.

  • Liked — Excellent Service, Style and Glamour!
  • Disliked — The rooms are looking a little tired these days - but this is only a very monior niggle!!

It was an adequate hotel. That is it. Nothing super fabulous - nothing bad either.

It is not situated in the best part of Glasgow but not bad either. While it is in the City Center, the front desk person told us that it was o.k. to walk to the right of the hotel at night but not to the left. Still, one would have to walk a few blocks to get to where the shopping and dining opportunities were and the walk was not all that pleasant at night. Again, not that we felt unsafe, but I would have preferred a hotel in a better location.

Otherwise, the hotel is clean and modern; our room was nicely decorated, very adequate. We reserved standard room and even at that there were plenty of extras, like coffee and tea tray, iron and the board, mini bar, decent bathroom with all the necessaries. While we did not reserve with breakfast, the very nice front desk clerk graciously upgraded us to a free breakfast buffet which was very nicely done and served. We did not eat dinner at the hotel but the menu looked reasonably appealing and expensive.

We noticed that the hotel is heavily used by business people and tour groups (Trafalgar and Cosmos groups stayed there) and so, perhaps, that would give a better idea of what the hotel is about.

In terms of dining, while I am sure that there are great restaurants in Glasgow, this was our last stop on a two-week Scotland holiday and we were pretty much spoken for. But, we very much enjoyed out time and food at Babbity Bowster, 16 Blackfriars Street.

This is city centre hotel making it easy to access any of the Glasgow tourist or business venues. Our Junior Suite was clean, comfortable and well appointed with an enjoyable city view. Breakfast was good, though the hotel restaurant was expensive given the price. All in all a good place to be with one exception. There is no on-site parking, but you can pay for valet parking. There is next to no space to pull up outside the hotel to unload luggage, so I ended up leaving my car at a bus stop. Luckily, I didn't get a ticket. When leaving the hotel, it took almost an hour for the valet to retrieve my car. I probably wouldn't return to this hotel unless travelling without the car as the parking service was very much sub-standard.

We stayed in the Radisson for two nights in August 2008. The hotel is located in the centre of the city within close proximity to Glasgow Central railway station. The hotel is clean and well presented, but was showing signs of ware and tare in places. The bar is pretty basic, but the restaurant is nice. The food in the evening was tasty and the breakfast was extensive in choice and selection. The rooms are small, and significantly smaller than other international hotel chains in which I have stayed. The bathroom whilst adequate was standard of most 3/4 star establishments and was nothing to write home about. In summary I would say that this hotel is an adequate city centre hotel for those looking to explore Glasgow.

Very well run hotel in a very hand location. If you can avoid a room on the side facing the station then that's best as on my recent stay there was quite a bit of noise from the street late at night. Helpful staff and tidy rooms.

Having stayed at the radisson before I was relieved to find that nothing much has changed. The staff were very friendly and professional.
Our room was nice, clean modern lines and nice toiletries. One thing that seems to have changed is that you used to get fresh milk for your tea instead of that nasty uht stuff that now seems to be on offer! Location is excellent for shopping and the train. We did not have breakfast as we felt that it was overpriced for what we would have received.
Instead we headed to Rogano restaurant and had food there which was very tasty and reasonable.
