“Awful”
Reviewed September 24, 2008

The room I was given was really awful. It was a box room with NO windows, which I found rather odd. The bedding also looked like it had been on the go for years!. There was also an pungent unpleasant smell throughout the Hotel, which was still with me when I left the next day. I complained to the staff re the condition of the room and accompanying smell and was given a bigger room on the floor above. This was moderately bettter, although cleanliness in the room remained to be a problem.

Although I appreciate this is budget accomodation, at the very least I expected it to be clean and comfortable enough to stay in for one night! Really disappointing.

My mother and I stayed for one night on a flying theatre visit to Glasgow.

Relatively central location, we walked from Kings Theatre which was less than 5 mins walk. The Art School in on the same road too.

Main shopping centre was a 10 min walk.

However there are a lot of stairs to and in the hotel, it has about 25 steps to get into it, then stairs down to the dining room, and then dependant on floor, stairs to get to your room.

It was a very clean and tidy hotel, but basic in furnishings. The staff were available 24 hours and we found them friendly and helpful.

Breakfast was very generous even for us Vegetarians!

Would I stay again? Yes definately, it was excellent value for money. However if my Mother was with me, I may choose another hotel purely to avoid the stairs, but for me, no problem.

The rooms at first floor are quite nice and with beautiful views over the town; on the contrary, the ones at low ground have no window and a bad smell. The staff is quite polite, but they want to be paid immediately!

My Friend and I arrived mid afternoon on a Saturday to check in. We asked for non smoking but when we arrived the bedroom was STINKING of stale smoke! there was an ashtray in the room so it was obviouly not a non smoking. There were NO windows in the bedroom, that being why the room stank so much. It was a box rooom. Tiny. For a budget hotel we weren't expecting luxury however it didnt even have the basics of cleanliness. There was odd mugs beside a kettle and there were'odd looking' white marks on the lamp shade!

We checked out immediately and when to a travel lodge!

If you are on a tight tight budget I would undertand but they place honestly was horrible.

Avoid.

A group of twelve of us stayed at the Hampton Court for a Hen weekend in August 2006. I was a little apprehensive given that the hotel only cost us £20 per night but we were very pleasantly surprised by the hotel and even more so by its location! It is so central, just off Sauciehall Street (although it is up a huge hill).

The hotel was cleanish, and each of our rooms had a small but adequate shower room and tea and coffee making facilities. The beds were so comortable.

Only a few of us went for breakfast and I heard that it was good - a full cooked breakfast with extra tea and toast if you wish!

I would recommend this hotel to young people who don't want to blow their whole budget on accommodation but maybe not for families or a romantic getaway!!

Stayed at the Hampton court with some friends. Staff was unfriendly and not very helpful at all. The place itself was ok, however the rooms could have been more hygenic. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone who has children.
