Hampton Court Guesthouse

I stayed here for 2 nights as I was down in Glasgow for a course.

The room itself was fine, small with no window (which wasn't a problem) comfortable bed, ensuite shower room, free wifi, really friendly staff and a lovely breakfast!

The thin walls were a huge problem. The first night/early morning I was woken at around 4.30 as the man in the room next to be was on the phone or dictating something for around an hour. I don't think he was speaking particularly loudly but he could have been in the same room as me and I could have taken notes has he required.

The second night from around 8pm until around 3/4am the man in the room next to me. (same room different man) spent the entire time sounding like he was puking his guts up, retching from the soles of his feet. (seeing him the next day I think it was coughing) but I couldn't sleep because of it and at one point at around 1am seriously thought of getting up and just checking into a different place just to get some sleep. As a woman traveling on her own I wasn't confident enough to leave my room at that time and go to reception (no phone in the room). Also how can you complain about someone who has an illness.

For this reason, having 2 nights of disturbed sleep I wouldn't go back which is a shame because aside from that it was a nice place and very cheap.

A group of us stayed the first weekend in May 2013. This place is amazing value, cannot recommend it enough. We had 3 rooms, all fantastic. The staff are AMAZING!! Within walking distance of the main train and bus station. Close to Tesco metro, cheap pub, and places to eat. There were 10 of us, and everyone enjoyed their stay with no problems. Breakfast was great, and we got to meet other guests who were also enjoyed the lovely breakfast options. Tea and coffee in the room. Do not stay anywhere else.

A great value for your money. Rooms are small, but large enough to stay a couple of hours each day. Breakfast was nice and made fresh. Staff was friendly and helpful. It's on a small hill but very close to the centre (10 minutes walk). Would stay there again.

We stayed here for one night The place is very basic and no complaints regarding the quality of service or the staff
One small comment is that people do check radiators, TVs and wardrobes for dust. Cleaning schedule could be improved on especially in downstairs rooms However the bed linen was meticulous and the towels were clean.
The staff were extremely welcoming and always had time to chat
Would definitely recommend as a place to stay for value

Stayed here before Open Day at University of Glasgow as it's pretty easy walking distance. Staff really helpful and friendly, room clean and comfortable (we were upgraded to a bigger room with a choice of beds!), breakfast cooked to order. It's not the Ritz but I'd happily stay here again - good value.

One staff member in particular was very nice and cheerful, location of hotel is fantastic for any city centre activities. It was quiet throughout the night and the shared bathroom was clean although needing a bit of TLC.

The whole place needs a facelift: corridors dark and unpleasant, small room was fine but door let in light from all sides and blind let in light. Sheets old but perfectly clean and were changed for the second night. However there was a wet towel left hanging on my door from previous guest which was still unnoticed when I got fresh sheets and towels!

Fine if you're on a tight budget and need a place to sleep.
