The people at the reception are not particularly caring. The lobby was dusty and dirty. The lift took ages to come to your floor. Breakfast was not a miracle but OK. Big area for eating so it was never crowded. The cleaning service add biscuits and water to your room every day which I found quite good. The shower in our room was either piping hot or dead cold. There was no WiFi in our room even though the description stated that it is available everywhere throughout the hotel. And my boyfriends phone was on roaming all the time :-D do not know why. I would pick a different place next time.

I have never write such a negative review. Paid £225 for a triple room. So so so noisy it's ridiculous, traffic outside windows don't shut properly, internal door doesn't shut properly, no remote, huge looks like water cylinder tank in room and guess what constant noise. Hotel fully booked due to commonwealth. Dreading second night stay here. Would highly recommend avoiding!

If you are looking for a hotel for a weekend away, a shopping trip or a concert. This is a great hotel. It's a bit dated, but very clean. The price includes breakfast, which was very good. I have stayed twice at this hotel and would recommend it. Also, is just along from Central Station. This is a value for money hotel, not swanky. But clean and comfortable with a decent breakfast at a good price.

As others have said, the location close to Central station is ideal. The layout uostairs is a challenge to one's sense of direction. As a single traveller, my room was perfectly adequate, though not tremendously spacious - as a double it might have felt cramped. The tall but narrow window made it a little gloomy. The bathroom was smallish, but offered a powerful shower and all that was required. Hospitality tray had tea/coffee and biscuits. The large breakfast room would be very elegant with a "less is more" approach to decor and though the cold selection was very limited, the hot buffet provided a filling start to the day. The young ladies kept things moving smoothly and efficiently, cleaning and resetting tables promptly, so that space was never an issue. Check in and out were both efficient and pleasant and though by no means the height of luxury, it was very fair value for money.

I'm afraid to say I have to agree with what most of what the other 2 star reviews mentioned, good location but old decor, uncomfortable bedrooms, bad lift.

The hotel couldn't be in a better location, right by Glasgow central, a subway station, restaurants and central attractions.

The reception area was small and overcrowded at check in time. The building has high ceilings and a lot of stairs, however, they only had one lift which can take up to 5 minutes to arrive. This lift was the smallest lift I've ever seen, it could carry up to 4 people (barely that with luggage) and sinks a little when you step in. With about 6 floors in the hotel I wouldn't recommend for people with mobility issues. It made the experience unpleasant before I'd got into the room.

The bathroom was ok minus a few hairs and a wobbly toilet. The bedroom smelt old and of cigarettes, there was a burn mark on the red bed cover ( I didn't even realise it was legal to smoke in hotels). It was hot and rainy in Glasgow and the room was hot and humid with no air conditioning. With the window open there was a lot of noise from a bar in the street. There was a kettle in the room and a little tv. The bed was a bit lumpy and only 1 small pillow on each side (and 1 spare).

There was a nice lounge area on the 1st floor with comfy chairs, sofas, a bar, tv and books. I would recommend that if your room is getting too depressing! The included breakfast in the morning was good. Check out was quick.

I would not recommend this hotel if you are the sort of person who can't tolerate the comfort, hygiene and decor standards, well below those of a normal uk chain hotel.

This is an old hotel close to the station decorated in a weird but enjoyable 80's style. Large rooms, good breakfast included and enormous lounge, dining and bar/t.v.rooms. Helpful staff and reasonable tariff - can't ask for much more

Wonderful location for travellers using Glasgow Central station. Looking forward to using in the future and seeing more upgrading that is obviously in the works One of the best breakfast buffets I have experienced. (Superior to my memories of the GRand Central Hotel).
