“Jack of all trades, master of none”
Reviewed February 26, 2014

The menu should have been a big flashing warning signal, Thai, Chinese, Indian, Spanish, Italian, Mexican, traditional pub grub and many more all on one huge menu, 30 starters and over 45 main menu options.

God knows how they keep everything fresh and I found out, frozen veg, microwave mash and lots of different elements of our dishes either changes or missing all together. Dull and lacklustre food that was more hotel chain food that the promised gourmet evening out.

The staff could take an order fine, if you wanted to make a slight change like sauce on the side or no mushrooms then forget it.

“Good - but room for improvement!”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

My friends and and I decided to have Sunday lunch here to celebrate birthdays - only five minutes from my house but this was only third time I had been here ! They met my request for a seat in the glasshouse which I was pleased about as it was really airy and spacious! The service was very quick and efficient and after much deliberation we all decided on two courses a starter and main. There were two definates for steak pie whilst I asked if the roast beef came with Yorkshire pud etc. When the answer was no, I decided to have steak pie also as a main. The two starters of prawn cocktail looked good but I decided to have the much talked about haggis fritters! There was certainly lots of haggis the batter was crisp and the dipping sauce was very tasty, although our waitress was not able to tell us exactly what the dip was....(?)
The steak pie was generous, lots of lovely gravy and meat and the pastry was light and flaky. However it came with chips - none of us could remember being given a choice of chips or potatoes? Little boiled potatoes would have set it off nicely. Lovely selection of veg, although slightly overcooked for my liking. The steak pie would have benefited from some carrot and turnip, then it would have been even more like "granny" made. However all in all very enjoyable and a very relaxing way to spend a Sunday afternoon - looking out to the wintry weather!

“Poor customer relations.”
Reviewed February 8, 2014

I had booked a table and on arrival was told we could not be seated at the glass house. Oregano policy is you cannot pre book tables in the glass house in advance. We were given a booth which was tight for our party of five. The glass house was empty and 15 minutes later a party of 4 arrived and after complaining and threatening to leave were seated in the glass house. Complained to staff who were clearly not interested. This establishment has great food, reasonably priced but let down by unmotivated staff. Received no greeting on arrival and no comment on departure.

“Brilliant food.... brilliant price.”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

Went here for lunch a few days ago and ordered off the lunch / early dinner menu. The choice of meals was great... my boyfriend and i both struggled to choose because there was so many tasty things on offer. The set price was fantastic value and definently worth every penny.
The food itself was really lovely and the portions were really pretty big. We ordered the burger, which was very good and the carbonara, which was also really nice but had quite a heavy sauce. The portion size was huge on this... so make sure your hungry if ordering this!
The staff were all very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere felt really nice also. The restaurant itself was very nicelnd warm, just what was needed on a cold winters day!
Would definently go back as the food was great and the price was equally great.
