I have been to Viva Brazil several times now and I must say my experience on last Wednesday night was the best so far. As soon as i got through the door i got greeted by manager called Ann, she was helpful and served us very efficiently. 2 other waiters very warmly, professional guys one of them was Ross, unfortunately we didn't understand the name of the other guy which was lovely too! Food was delightful and beautifully presented on salad bar and meats are juicy and tasty! the only minus was wine they didn't have the one we ordered from the list !
Over all my experience was amazing! I always highly recommend this restaurant!
Viva Brazil you are the pride of Glasgow dining!

“Low end cuts of meat once is enough”
Reviewed October 23, 2013 via mobile

My second visit to Viva (Liverpool last time), thought the Glasgow branch was lesser standard than its sister branch. Service was great and attentive, meats keep coming at a rate of knots, they pile you up with the lower end and less expensive meats, if you want any of the nicer stuff you need to ask, I guess the strategy is to fill you up quick before you ask for the prime cuts. Overall okay but let down by poor gristly meat. Salad bar was okay.

“Something a bit different”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We've been here numerous occasions, always for lunch as we have a 21month old daughter and not too many babysitters...

Each time we have had a great experience, and our daughter also seemed to like almost everything on offer!

The buffet is good, although having been to the same type of places in Portugal, I felt that some of the dishes have been changed to UK tastes. For example, the Cod in Cream (baccalhu con natas) in the buffet, wasn't actually made with salt cod but a white fish that wasn't even salted. Therefore I always find with restaurants trying to be authentic - that the actual dish should be the same as you would have in Brazil.

Despite that, we enjoyed it none the less. The buffet has a good range of hot and cold dishes, traditional Feijoada (not sure of the correct spelling) which again I think has been changed slightly but still very good bean stew.

It also has fresh fruit, which for our 21 month old daughter was a delight for dessert. Large slices of watermelon, grapes and others - very Brazillian and perfect end to the meal.

They have changed the way the meat works slightly over the years and have introduced a card whereby your server stamps the appropiate cut of meat that is offered - this is to ensure that you get all cuts and not the same stuff over and over which maybe in response to some of the earlier comments on this website.

We found the meat good, although we did have to ask for it rare and he we like the piccanha con alho the best - which we asked for a couple of times and it was brought within 5 mins of asking, therefore we found the service to be very good. If you ask - you get.

Also - something to try ask for the grilled pineapple and cinnamon sugar for dessert (cant recall the Portuguese name for it) - but it was amazing! Comes straight off the skewer and sugar is molten on top with a dusting of cinnamon - doesn't sound great but tastes great.

All in all, we would recommend this and will go back again. Although noted we go for lunch which is much much cheaper than dinner... therefore you need to eat a lot to ensure your money's worth in the evening!
