Description: Like their two previous centres, Colin and Mandy chose a fabulous site to build their next garden centre. Located out in the country, but only a small 5 minute drive from Mearns Cross and a 7 minute drive from East Kilbride, Caulders Braidbar provides the peace and tranquility of the open countryside however has the convenience of being close to Glasgow and easily accessable. Caulders Braidbar follows in the same ethos of both Mugdock & Kirkintilloch and has its foundations as supplying great plants and garden products. Together with fabulous catering offering great food. The views from The Garden House Restaurant at Braidbar look spectacularly over Glasgow, onto the Campsies and beyond. The gift shop at Braidbar is placed with great and unusual gift ideas and the garden centre is always stocked with a fantastic range of plants. As you wander through the plant sales area you will notice that the garden centre has been built around the historic Gowkstone. This stone is thought to date back to the iron ages, the name comes from the Scotts word Gowk which means cuckcoo. The Gowkstone was a meeting place for the covenants in the 1600's and later was thought to be a special place with special powers - we still believe it is a special place!!!

Have eaten at Caulders many times over the last 18 months. We even walked 8 miles to it for lunch the last time. The choice of food is varied and always good sized helpings. There is a good selection of puddings and cakes to tempt you. The service is really good; friendly and helpful staff. Everything is clean and there are plenty of tables to chose from. We haven't been able to sit out on the decking as it is either too cold or wet when we visit but there is a stunning view over Glasgow.

Have been visiting Caulders since it opened and usually order the same - baked potato then lemon fudge! Soup and sandwich also highly recommended. Very friendly staff.

Astonished to read an early reviewer's experience with Caulders' staff. This is my 'local' and I love going there. The restaurant manager has been there since the centre opened and has always been friendly and helpful, even when we have arrived with my niece's young baby son. Or, one one occasion last Christmas, with 12 women for an impromptu birthday party. The restaurant is usually very popular at certain times and it isn't unusual to have a short wait for food, but the young staff are always very polite and pleasant. In fact, I was sitting in another local restaurant last week and said to my companion 'Caulders is better' and the lady at the next table turned to me and agreed! A few folk have said they would like the menu extended to include items such as chips, but the existing menu caters for most tastes - and the cakes are fab.
