Description: Like their two previous centres, Colin and Mandy chose a fabulous site to build their next garden centre. Located out in the country, but only a small 5 minute drive from Mearns Cross and a 7 minute drive from East Kilbride, Caulders Braidbar provides the peace and tranquility of the open countryside however has the convenience of being close to Glasgow and easily accessable. Caulders Braidbar follows in the same ethos of both Mugdock & Kirkintilloch and has its foundations as supplying great plants and garden products. Together with fabulous catering offering great food. The views from The Garden House Restaurant at Braidbar look spectacularly over Glasgow, onto the Campsies and beyond. The gift shop at Braidbar is placed with great and unusual gift ideas and the garden centre is always stocked with a fantastic range of plants. As you wander through the plant sales area you will notice that the garden centre has been built around the historic Gowkstone. This stone is thought to date back to the iron ages, the name comes from the Scotts word Gowk which means cuckcoo. The Gowkstone was a meeting place for the covenants in the 1600's and later was thought to be a special place with special powers - we still believe it is a special place!!!

Really good Garden Centre and a great place for stopping off for coffee when you are on your way somewhere, anywhere really. Always think its important, whenever you are off early somewhere, to get yourself into a Garden Centre for coffee and scones, rolls etc. Good quality Scottish home baking always wins the day. Great for a high tea option. And for sitting reading the papers and to find out what the papers are saying.

I had got up very early and got the papers from the garage, so stopped off at Caulders as i was on my way to Silverburn. Wanted to get in early as the parking was full. Christmas rush was on and parking of a premium. I stopped off on the way back also as i like to stop off for coffee. The food was excellent and the service great. Enjoyed some banter with some Foreign people at the next table. Cor blimey they were funny.
My only complaint was that it is not open from say 6am.

My husband and I went to the garden centre and popped into the busy restaurant and decided on the high tea. We were offered the choice of sandwiches made up to our liking. We were pleasantly surprised by the generously filled sandwiches and the great selection of sweet treats. All in all a very good value lunch option. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The service was quick. The tables were cleaned quickly.
