My husband and I had received a lovely voucher for a meal and drinks for Christmas and was looking forward to using it - unfortunately there were quite a few problems on the day.
I had called a few hours previously to book a table but when we arrived the staff didn't have it. We only waited 5 mins to be seated but felt as though we had been stuck at the end of another family's table despite there being other seats around us.
After having made our decision on our order we were then told we had the incorrect menu as we were using a deal. Decisions remade and order placed quickly with the food arriving in good time. However, we did not receive the garlic toast with our mussels or the extra focaccia that we ordered. We complained about this with focaccia arriving after we finished the starters and no garlic toast at all. (We did also notice that the couple beside us received finger bowls too which we did not.) Once the starters were cleared our dirty cutlery was left to use for our mains - not too much to ask for clean cutlery.
When having a nice lunch in a place such as the Grosvenor I would expect to have a nice atmosphere - unfortunately I felt like I was in a creche. There were about 5/6 kids running round the restaurant without a parent in site or without even an apology from the staff as it was clear that they were disturbing not only us but tables beside us.
It pains me to write this as it is by no means a reflection on the food which was fantastic! Such a pity the service and atmosphere was poor.
