We stayed at the Ibis on the eve of the opening ceremony of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. As others have already said it is a simple, neat and efficient but basic hotel. For somewhere to lay one's head and take a shower it's just the ticket but don't anticipate any frills. In short it is all that one expects to find in an Ibis-brand hotel. No significant passing traffic or other disturbance despite its central location. It took us about 20 minutes to walk there from Glasgow Central railway station (note: mostly uphill!) on a gloriously sunny afternoon. I'm not sure I'd be so keen to walk in damp or cooler weather though. But £200 (major event room rate) was rather steep, taking really rather unfair advantage of visitors who have no choice but to cough up. This though is a criticism that can be levelled at all hotels in Glasgow rather than singling out the Ibis, but was enough to make my overall rating 'very good' rather than 'excellent'.

We stayed at the Ibis in Nov 2011. Typical.

Rooms & property:
The establishment is a simple, meticulously neat but very basic hotel. Its good for travellers with limited budgets/students/short official trips. The decor of the room reminds somewhat of a hostel. However, even despite its central location, no noise was experienced during our stay.

Location:
Good location- in between the shopping area and the business district- located 10 mins walking distance from Glasgow Central Railway station. Good bars plus food two streets away at Sauchiehall street.

Wifi:
free

Cons:
- non smoking rooms
- very basic rooms
- bedding & pillows only moderately comfortable

Overall:
Would strongly recc for budget watchers to stay here!

All the staff were very friendly and helpful - at check in and check out.
Would stay there again as it was a great location to get to the center of Glasgow.

Room Tip: Rooms although basic were clean and comfortable and value for money.

We stayed as part of a Treyn holiday at the end of June. Reception was quick and easy.

Our room was basic but perfectly comfortable.

Breakfast was excellent. Unlimited bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms, all very well cooked. Also toast, croissants, jam, fruit etc.

Staff very pleasant and friendly. Drinks prices reasonable.

Ideally placed for Sauchiehall Street, where you will find Weatherspoons and World Buffet (opposite).

Would happily stay again.

Room Tip: All rooms seem much the same. There is some noise if you leave the window open but the double glazin...

Pretty typical Ibis hotel. The location is great, just a short walk from bars and some great restaurants. Despite it's central location, the rooms were very quiet and the beds were comfortable. The shower basin doesn't really contain the splash, so the floor was pretty wet in the morning. Overall, it was a pretty decent stay.

Stayed here with a group on our way up to do the 3 Peaks Challenge. We had a mini bus full of kit so didn't fancy unloading it all but wanted it within view for safety. We found free car parking space right outside the front door and the night manager offered to keep an eye on it - brilliant.
Quick check in and quick check out -reception staff very friendly/helpful and found the whole group somewhere nice and inexpensive to have dinner.
Comfy room, comfy bed and quiet considering a city centre location. Nice powerful shower in the morning. Free WiFi, Good self-service breakfast with everything you need. Great location too as just round corner from Sauchiehall Street with great pubs and eateries.
Next time I'm in Glasgow I'll be back here.
Thanks IBIS team :-)

Room Tip: Its in city centre so could be noisy @ w/ends. I had a room at the back on side street so didn't...
