“Comfort in Glasgow”
Reviewed December 8, 2013

A positive experience with the Ibis Hotel in Aberdeen led us to booking the Ibis City Centre Hotel in Glasgow. Clean and comfortable with friendly staff made the week another positive experience for us.

Stayed here whilst attending a conference at SECC (which is not a short walk).
On arrival the reception area was a bit intimidating, large male crowd watching football and drinking but there was no noise elsewhere.
I was on 6th floor which was very quiet, no noise from other rooms or street below.
Room was clean and comfortable with good wardrobe space, good tv, tea and coffee. Bathroom is like a tardis but shower is very good. Room was cleaned every day to a high standard.
Breakfast was very good for a budget hotel and even provided Twinnings tea :-).
Fairly centrally located but took us 30-40 mins to walk to SECC every day despite trying to find a 'quick route' each time.

Great budget hotel, wouldn't want to come here on a romantic weekend but for a short business trip it ticked all the boxes.

Dear Madam

Thank you for your review, I do appreciate that you enjoyed your stay. As you can see Glasgow is a very eclectic city and we can have conferences, concerts, and international football matches all on at the same time. We do welcome everyone and I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back again.

Kind regards

When one member of hotel staff is rude to you it's unfortunate. When two hotel staff members are rude to you in could just be that they are having a bad day. But every single person you deal with in the hotel kind of acts like they are doing you a favor by letting you stay in the hotel, well that's a hotel to avoid.

The internet is not working. How can we fix this I ask. "I dunno" came the response. Apparently there was problem with the all the entire internet across europe. Which lets be honest is hard to believe. Can someone call me when it is back up and running? No came the response. I'm not exaggerating here. Just "No". I shrugged it off even though I needed to upload a file for my office back home. Nobody likes to make a fuss but when your room is not cleaned by 2pm in the afternoon you start to wonder what it is you are paying for. I asked the reception to have it cleaned. She said when the cleaners get time they will do it. Could she ask them to do it now? No.

Seriously this is just a poor hotel. With awful staff who are not being told how to treat guests. I know it's a cheap hotel but come on. Just a little bit hospitality would be nice. On these grounds I suggest you go to Novotel around the corner. From what I hear it's great.

Comfortable beds, very clean rooms.
You can walk to the nearby concert venues, don't take a taxi, just walk over the squinty bridge!

Our first stay at Ibis hotels – and it will not be our last. The hotel is clean, well designed and organised; the staff helpful. It does exactly what it says on the can – no fuss. Ibis is now top of our list of stopover hotels.
