Been here many times mostly just for drinks. Fridays see a group of deejays seemingly indulging their own tastes by playing old soul tracks at full volume. Don't really see the point since the volume precludes civilised conversation, and no-one seems to be particularly into the tunes except those spinning the discs. The service is good and the toilets a bit small.
Only been once for lunch, when we sat outside. Again service was good and my steak pie was lovely.

Was here recently with a group of friends. It was on a Sunday and it was a reduced menu, not sure if this is the usual policy for a Sunday. We did call ahead to book and nothing was mentioned to us until we were seated and had ordered our drinks. This was a little disappointing, however there were a good selection of burgers that were available.

I had a chicken burger, really nice! Would probably go back, this was my first time eating here but been in to a few wee acoustic gigs and its a nice bar to drink in.

Not having been in a few yrs the decor hasn't half changed, not sure about the catalogue themed wallpaper and chairs but walked into good atmosphere. Promptly shown to table and ordered from decent wine list. Menu is burgers pizza and good posh pub grub. There were 6 of us so got to sample quite a few dishes. Side dish of Stornaway black pudding dippers as a starter was fab although served with sweet chilli sauce...hmm? Cullen skink good and chicken liver pâté certainly tasted nice, but served with kinda tasteless bread. Mains of pizza, 2 different fish dishes and few meat dishes were all hailed a success. Occasion lack of staff present and request for black pepper entailing long journey up and down stairs took shine off of service but all in all top night and very reasonable prices. Will be back.

Friendly staff, large quantity of quality Euro beers and top shelf liquor. Private room upstairs for small parties.

In general, a great local pub with friendly staff and patrons.

We have walked past this pub/restaurant a few times and have always been eating elsewhere so on Monday we decided we have to go in to check it out as it alwayslooks so inviting.
Welcome was warm and friendly, nothing too much trouble, they also have a specials menu, my husband had the black pudding to start which he demolished as he said it was delicious, I had the ham hock terrine again lovely, we had the 32 hour braised cheek which melted in your mouth, the mashed potato was so creamy and divine, we were so full but shared a sweet of Lemon Tart that had bubble gum flavoured candy floss served with a raspberry sorbet it was one of the best puddings I have ever tasted so different, this is not pub grub, they have a seriously good chef who is fantastic, well done this is a must go and visit, we did not have to book but it was a Monday night, oh and the music was great to!
