“PERFECT!”
Reviewed May 5, 2008

I stayed at a superior two bed apartment at The White House - with a colleague on a business trip. We could not fault this property at all. It is beautifully decorated and attention to detail has not been missed. They are equipped with EVERYTHING! Our bathroom had a jacuzzi bath, great at the end of a busy working day. They allow you to order a take away and let you know where you can pick up essentials like a bottle of wine etc!!!
I will definately return and recommend this property to anyone...

My wife and I stayed two nights - and felt very much "at home" in this delightful set of appartments. We had number 11 at the back - which had to be accessed through a VERY narrow passageway - which might be a bit of a squeeze if you are a rotund person - but - the squeeze is worth it :)

I saw one of the other appartments - one with a mezzanine and a magnificent bay window - don't recall the number of that - but it was quite special.

Tartan abounds - the staff are a pleasure to talk to - and the place might have one or two items that are a bit in need of TLC - but if ever we go back to Glasgow - we would have no qualms booking at the White House again - it was super....

  • Liked — We enjoyed the whole place - uncomplicated and relaxing home-from-home
  • Disliked — Nothing to dislike...

I took my husband to Glasgow for his birthday in February 2008. We stayed in a small studio. Was very impressed with the price of £49 per night. The room itself was large with a double bed, tv, built in wardrobe, sofa and dining table with two chairs. High ceilings and sash windows made it feel more spacious. We had a little kitchen with oven, microwave etc and bathroom. The view from room was the small courtyard, didn't heard any noise even with windows open at night. Will deffinately stay here again!

Stayed at the Whitehouse apartments 15-16th Feb 08 and loved it. My friend and I were over for a wedding in Kibble palace so wanted a West end location. We had a 2 bedroom mews cottage all to ourselves which was great! The apartment was clean and cosy with very comfy settees and bed (can only vouch for mine!). In fact it was so welcoming we decided just to stay in and watch a dvd the first night! There was a massive list of DVD and videos available to borrow for free from reception. Apartment also had tea and coffee sachets, shortbread and UHT milk.
Staff were very friendly and helpful with everything (ordering us taxi etc). Would definitely stay here again, really nice change to have a living room etc instead of being in a hotel room, and not really any more expensive.
Only v minor drawback was that we got the bus to kibble palace and decided to walk the rest when we arrived, and it was quite hard to find because very few streets had street names! If walking make sure you print a street map from the internet first

Stayed for one night with my girlfriend in January. I have family in Glasgow so this was the first time i've stayed in proper accommodation. Wanted to try somewhere a bit different and the Whitehouse offered a great price in a good location (close to the city centre by car / public transport, but in a quiet location with free parking).

We booked the superior two bedroom apartment, which is mews cottage in style, located as an annex to the main building. The room is huge, lovely living room, dining area, kitchen, two bedrooms and bathroom with jacuzzi. A bottle of wine was thrown in by the management which was a nice touch, along with a personalised welcome letter.

Couple of housekeeping issues which i think was the result in the room not being used all that often - but nothing major -
1: room was quite dusty, especially attention to detail dusting
2: bedside light bulb was dead

The main issue with the room was the shower above the jacuzzi. Due to the sloping ceiling in the bathroom, anyone who is over 5ft tall couldn't stand underneath the shower. This left me having to try and shower on my knees. Whilst the jacuzzi was great, having a shower which is definately not practical is a major flaw and needs to be looked at.

With it being apartments, your very much left to your own devices which is great although having came back from dinner the door which leads from the main building to our apartment appeared to have jammed in the cold weather. Having pressed the bell for the caretaker, no one came and we were left for about 15 minutes trying some DIY to get the lock to turn. (Luckily brute force won in the end).

These were only minor niggles which didn't impact on our enjoyment. Perhaps the fact I used to be the Reception Manager of a four star property in Edinburgh has left me being a bit more nit-picky than others. If the Whitehouse were to pay slightly more attention to detail they would have definately have scored 5/5 from me.
