“Best budget hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

Stayed here on a stag weekend with 18 other guys. For £20 a head you get a large comfy bed, a clean room and Cooked breakfast. Central location (10 minute walk to train station, 5 minutes to pubs). Have genuinely paid double for worse hotels. Best budget hotel I have stayed at

Located in a central area, this hotel is a little old but everything is on order. I was really just missing shampoo and breakfasts are only between 7.30 a.m. to 8.45 a.m. Overall a good value for money address.

When I got to Glasgow it was pouring with rain .Walked to my hotel and was told I had to check into another hotel. The receptionist had no idea why I had to do this, as she had just come back from holiday ! I went back down the stairs and walked up and down looking for number 212 (no number outside). So I went into the Victorian House hoping it was the right place. It was and I have to say that I was really grouchy with the receptionist, But she was very professional and friendly and helpful. In fact all the staff I met were lovely. I was really surprised at how nice the room was, clean , nicely painted ,warm, good shower and TV, and a great bed and duvet. I would definetly stay here again and to the receptionist who was working on the 31st of January at about noon, you were fantastic and thankyou!! (Sorry I did not get your name).

No frills, but if you're looking for a centrally located dormitory in a quiet street, look no further. Clearly a volume business, but that is how value for money is secured. Coffee was available in the entrance lounge area on request when we returned from our first expedition. The public space is limited to a small lounge/reception area plus a very roomy dining area on two levels. Freshly cooked food makes for a tempting breakfast offering and a wide choice caters for all tastes. We were there for one night when we went to see a show at the Theatre Royal, a ten minute walk away. It fitted the bill perfectly and is on the list for a return visit.

Me and a friend stayed over in this hotel and it was great. We had been booked into another hotel which was full and they had arranged for us to stay here, i must say the hotel was very nice. Rooms were fab and the facilities excellent. Breakfast was very nice and I will definitely stay here in the future.

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was ok. Check in was fast and easy and the staff were really nice and helpful. We didn't have breakfast because it was early so i can't comment on that. Very old fashioned but the bed was comfy and the shower worked so i wasn't fussed. Nice staff but the whole place could do with a lick of paint which is a shame because the outside of the building is lovely. There's no wifi except for in the lobby. Overall a good hotel for a budget stay.

Went to this hotel for a weekend with a mate and our partners for a rugby match. Location is good, on the west side of Glasgow and close to bars/restaurants but not so close it infringes on peace in room.

This hotel typifies the saying 'you get what you pay for'. At £40 a room with buffet breakfast I have little to complain about. The room was 'no frills' but the bed was comfy and the tv decent size. The bathroom did have a strong strange musty/damp smell though which has heavily affected my rating.

Would stay here again if on a budget, but will probably just pay a little extra next I visit Glasgow
