Its years since I have walked along Buchanan Street. I was pleasantly surprised with the good selection of quality shops.

“Busy street with great shopping”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2013

Brilliant shops, lots of places to eat from the Royal Concert Hall to Princes Square at the foot of Buchanan Street.
Lots of eating places in small lanes off the main street.
Architecture is stunning if you can focus away from the shops for a moment. Royal Exchange Square opens off Buchanan Street (past the Rogano, yum,) leading to fantastic shops and restaurants and the Gallery of Modern Art.
Well worth a visit.

“Shopping at its best.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 6, 2013

This fantastic shopping destination just gets better all the time. The addition of the refurbished buildings at the top of the hill near The Glasgow Royal Concert Hall is worth a visit. The new Paperchase is very well stocked with all manner of interesting finds and gifts. The coffee shop upstairs is lovely and inviting. The coffee is good and there is a wide choice of snacks but very little in the way of cakes.

Just off Buchanan Street are favourite haunts, Laura Ashley at West George Street and Cath Kidston in Gordon Street. Sloan's Market (between Buchanan Street and Argyle Street) is on every weekend and well worth a visit. Don't forget to check out what is on at Sloan's Bar and Restaurant. I attended an interesting cupcake making class there earlier this year!

A trip to Princes Square is a must if you are looking for speciality shops and lovely restaurants. In the summer I would encourage visitors to look up at the fine old buildings and admire the architecture whilst having coffee outside as this area is a pedestrian haven. Watch the varied street theatre from balloon artists to human statues or the music of visiting choirs, up-and-coming opera singers or the more rousing sounds of bands such as Clanedonia.

Just a short walk from Buchanan Street is Royal Exchange Square. Here you wil find the Museum of Modern Art and many more bars and eateries. There is an amazing cafe culture in Glasgow. Well worth a visit, why go anywhere else?
