I paid £150 for a night at this particular Hilton. I have stayed in Hilton hotels in other countries and had great memories from them. This one, however, was one of the worse. The room was tiny and so was the bathroom - there was just enough space for the shower, sink and toilet. The view was of a noisy road; I asked if we could move to another room with a better view and was told they had no more rooms available. The wi-fi signal was so weak in the room that it did not work. I would have been alot happier with the room if the price wasn't so expensive. I have stayed in a travelodge for a fraction of the price and with alot more space.

Dear mllmscl

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry that the size of your room did not meet your expectations.

Our pricing is in line with hotels of a similar standard in Glasgow and reflects the level of demand, quality of furnishings and service that is provided.

Kind Regards,
Brian

We (28 year old couple) stayed at this hotel for one night on Saturday 3rd August after purchasing an itison voucher for overnight stay, with welcome drink and breakfast. We paid £10 to upgrade to a river view room.

We are frequent travellers to Glasgow for shopping trips / drinks and nights away and have stayed in various hotels in the area. (See me other reviews).

This hotel is approx. 20 - 30 min walk from Central Station. It's between £4 & £6 in a taxi.

Reception / Bar area:
Nice area, check in was good and staff friendly. We arrived in the morning well before allowed check in time, and just wanted to leave our bags so we could go shop, but they had a room available which was fab. However, I didn't receive my free drink voucher but went and asked for it later and it was given to me so no hardship. There is a ''pantry'' area with microwave meals etc, but they are about £7 or £8 each - eek! Check out was simple and they called us a taxi to take us to station. We enjoyed our free night time drink which we had after coming back to hotel from dinner, hubbys vodka and lemonade and my rose wine. The ambience in the bar was great with candles and dimmed lights, music etc a really nice ambience, comfy seating.

Room:
We stayed in room 506 (5th floor, river view for £10 extra). This was an end room and very small, presumably because it was the end room as my parents previously stayed in the room next door and it was much larger. See photos. There is a minibar/fridge, imac PC /TV, free wifi and tiny bathroom with a full standing shower which was very good. Bed was comfy and we had a good sleep, the room was decorated to a high standard and looked good, very clean. Normally paying extra for an upgraded room gives you a better standard but this is the same as other rooms and you do just literally pay for the view, which is pointless if never in room until sleeping although it was nice to wake up to the bridge in the morning.

Breakfast:
The quality of the food was excellent, buffet cereal, toasters, croissants, jams, then the fried stuff - amazing sausages, beans, eggs, haggis, bacon, mushrooms etc. We were really looking forward to the waffles and maple syrup but typically the machine was broken, not good. Also, no one offered us drinks when we were seated and I had to get up and go ask for them to bring us some tea and coffee - not good. The breakfast area was extremely busy due to an oriental coach trip (or three!!) and we were quite cramped down at the bottom of the restaurant getting bumped into etc. However, the quality of the food made up for it, was really delicious.

Overall, we had a pleasant stay but wouldn't return (unless there was another cheap itison deal). The hotel is a bit farther our from main shopping area and there are just as good if not better hotels in nearer for the same money or a tenner extra, such as Hotel Indigo the rooms are larger and decorated better and you could spend more time in room romantically or just to chill! Or the novotel which is very central with large rooms (although more business like) with an excellent buffet breakfast.

Room Tip: Don't pay the extra for river view, and make sure you don't get an end room as it was small...

We got a great deal on this hotel for 5 nights in early August. The rooms are well appointed and the iMac is a blast. The only problem we had was with a lack of towels on one occasion. Free wifi is a real plus. The location is fine for walking into the city centre. Parking is 5 quid per 24 hour period and the staff sometimes charge and sometimes they don't. We paid the same price as for a Travelodge. Next time you want to visit Glasgow check this hotel out first!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the river are more expensive but you can always use your charm to see if they will relo...

Myself and 3 other friends stayed for 1 night and not one of us could find a fault. It is in a great location, very easy to get to by train. Staff were very friendly at the reception and booked a taxi for us when we asked. Rooms are very tidy and comfortable, they have everything you could need for staying. Generally just an amazing hotel and will definatley recommend and be back!

This is a very nice hotel, located right along the River Clyde, in Glasgow, UK. The location is very impressive, looking over the River Clyde and Clyde Arc, (beautifully lighted at night). It's close to the new Hydro Center (concert center - future opening). I loved jogging on either side of the Clyde River path, all the way to Glasgow Green. Many interesting pedestrian bridges along the river. The morning breakfest buffet had great variety and was delicious! Go here and enjoy a rich cup of coffee while watching the river! Cheers!

Good 4 night stay at the hotel. Granted the surroundings are a bit severe, rooms at the front overlook a bit of waste ground used as a car park and rear rooms overlook the River Clyde and the modern ugly glass BBC & STV buildings. Very near the SECC & new Hydro Entertainment centre which are less than 5 minutes walk & near the Tall Ship. City Centre is within walking distance, it would probably take a good 30-45 minutes walking briskly but there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. The rooms are very clean, functional and the Apple IMAC which doubles as a TV and computer is a very nice touch and extremely useful if staying for work or leisure. There is also free Wi-Fi. Bed comfortable, bedding & towels very clean and good quality. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room and the added bonus of a useable fridge is very welcome (well done Hilton for doing away with the dreaded useless & overpriced minibar and allowing guests a small fridge for cold drinks & water etc). There are drinks and snacks available to purchase near reception if required. Was a little worried when checking in as it seemed very busy so was slightly concerned about noise levels but the sound proofing in the rooms was adequate and had no real problems with noise from other guests arriving back late. Was slightly disappointed our request for a river view could not be granted (only available at additional cost) so room was at the front of the hotel but perfectly fine. Coaches picking up guests at the front can be a bit noisy early morning but was only one day of the trip so not a big problem. Car parking available at side of hotel, £5 overnight which is reasonable or £3 at the waste ground car park opposite (check prices before you park though). Hotel can be a little hard to find as the road signs leading to the hotel are very confusing (City Council take note, bus lanes signs are also badly worded and it is really difficult to gauge whether you are within them or not, this badly needs sorting out as you can very easily stray into them due to the terrible signage and incur a huge fine). Staff were very friendly and helpful which is a great plus. The restaurant is the normal generic hotel type and there is a really nice deck outside weather permitting. The smokers pole outside the main hotel doors is a bit off putting, never a great impression with people huddling around it puffing away but that is not really the hotel's fault and is a minor point. Inside the hotel it is all non smoking although we think someone had been smoking in the room we were allocated before we arrived but that is also not the hotel's fault if people won't comply, left the windows open for a couple of hours so the smell dissipated. Obviously this is a chain hotel and they do tend to be a bit soulless and impersonal but staff strived & succeeded in providing a personal touch and what more could you want from a City Centre hotel other than convenient location, nice, clean rooms and an Imac to boot. All in all found it to be great value, had a pleasant stay and would definitely stay there again and would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. Well done Hilton.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back or on a higher floor are probably quieter. Rooms at the front directly over the...

Only stayed one evening (Saturday 17th Aug) but my husband and I had a good overall experience. Hotel a little bit to walk to Glasgow city centre but lovely location and would recommend room view of River Clyde. Only had breakfast, lunch and drinks and found food quality good and staff effiecient and friendly. Dined at ALEA Leaf Restuarant (5 mins by taxi) in evening and this was lovely. Very clean and comfortable hotel and even has vending machine with drinks and snacks and microwave facilities for guests convenience (next to reception). Overall would recommend (also very convenient for events at SECC).
