“Lovely hotel”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

We enjoyed our stay here. the rooms were lovely, smart, modern and cozy. Maybe a bit on the small side but I would rather say compact. Great for the SECC if you are going to see something and most place in a taxi are within £5 journey. Bar is open until late aswell.

Only small complaint I have is our room was next to the lift . You could hear the rattle of the chains everytime they went up and down. I would defo stay here again but make sure I wasn't in one of these rooms as it can be hard to block out when trying to sleep

Dear Chris O

Thank you for sharing your recent experience.

Our location is ideal for the SECC and as many reviewers have highlighted Glasgow taxis offer great value to get around the city.

Kind Regards
Brian

The name is misleading. This hotel is fine but not in Glasgow city centre as the name suggests. It's a good 25/30 mins walk!!
If you have no car and really wanted to stay in the City Centre then do not choose this hotel.

Room was fairly nice and clean but not very warm. I would stay elsewhere- in the real city centre- next time I come to Glasgow.

Dear Enrico P

Thank you for your review.

I am sorry that our location did not suit your needs.

Our central location beside the SECC on the river front is just over 1 mile away from the shopping district to the east and under 2 miles from Byres road in the West end.

Kind Regards,
Brian

Stayed here one night for show at SECC, Very pleased with our room. Decent size overlooking river. Very impressed by the Apple TV/computer. Breakfast good as expected at Hilton.
Evening meal service started earlier than usual to suit early start to show. Service was a little slow to begin. Good standard of food for evening meal but a little on the expensive side when compared to other similar establishments.
Over all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the River Clyde have good views and are quiet.

This hotel seems to change its name every time I visit, but now Hilton is in charge it has given it a real lift. It is in a perfect position for the SECC, is within walking distance of a cinema, Ibrox, town centre and a range of resturants. It has a large car park although Hilton have introduced daily charging for its use.
The hotel has a small fitness room which is adequate, resturant(I didn't use) and bar(I did use). Breakfast is standard Hilton but pricey if you like just a bowl of cereal.
The biggest asset of the hotel is the staff, if there is a friendlier more helpful team I have yet to meet them(even when you turn up grumpy and tired). Rooms were cleaned well. Always service with a smile.
A pleasure to stay there. Looking forward to my next visit.

Stayed one night. Easy to reach just off the motorway which goes through Glasgow and had parking. Room on the small side for two people however was very clean, bed very comfortable room had TV, safe, fridge tea/coffee making facilities and hair dryer. We were not 'river side' however room was quiet with efficient double glazing air con could be controlled so we slept well. Bathroom again small but had a good shower.TV is also the computer so the screen is quite small and the 'controls' are less than clear for those not computer savvy. Breakfast was OK (have had better), help your self buffet however was spoilt by fellow guests taking breakfast in their shorts (maybe that's my own personal dislike)
Front of house staff very welcoming when we arrived before official check in after a long 6 hour drive. They provided a printed Google map with walking directions to where we needed to go-very helpful when you arrive in a new city for the first time. It is walkable into Glasgow city center but it is not a 'pleasant' walk until you get under the motor way and late at night I would not be too keen.
There is an Indian restaurant just across the road (we ate here and although not cheap the food was good) and an Italian and Thai place also close by. We are not fans of hotel restaurants (at least those attached to ordinary hotels) and prefer to eat out where we can.
I expect however that when there is any event taking place the whole area will become very busy and maybe less of a relaxed environment.
I would consider staying here again however would look at some of the other places first. It is not 'cheap' however for the car driver is easy to reach and provides (at a £5 charge) parking

Room Tip: River side if you want a view and no road noise.

Stayed overnight. Excellent hotel brilliant views along the River Clyde. Fantastic location as we were attending a show at the SSEC, left the car in the hotel car park during day, and walked to town centre 15 mins approx. walked to SSEC for show same grounds 5 mins. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: Riverside view if available is lovely particularly in the evening.
