This is a great hotel to stay in when attending concerts and events at the SECC/Hydro.

The reception staff are friendly and chatty, and check in was fast and efficient even though the hotel was at full occupancy.

Rooms are a decent size and fairly modern with Apple TV's. They are kept spotlessly clean. The bathroom is small with just a shower, no bath, but they are clean and modern.

We have dined at the hotel before and had a lovely meal, however this time we chose to eat at the Yen restaurant in the Rotunda building directly accross the road. Wherever you choose to dine be sure to make reservations as everywhere is really busy on event nights.

When we returned to the hotel after our show, the bar was busy but service was good. I heard the next morning that they were serving soup and sandwiches at night. This should have been better advertised as we would likely have ordered something. Missing out on sales :-)

Breakfast in the morning was a bit chaotic as it seemed like the whole hotel turned up at once. However they take your name and room number and seat you in order of arrival. Whilst waiting for a table they provided orange juice and pastries which was a good idea. So they are managing things, it just appears chaotic when you first go down. The actual food is fine and there is a good selection.

My only main criticism is that since Hilton took over they are now charging £5 for parking. I have stayed here several times over the years since it was City Inn and then Mint Hotel, and neither charged for parking. Seems a bit mean to charge your guests for parking when they have paid for the room already. This may be to discourage non-residents from parking, but if so then charge them and give your residents a free ticket.

I have just booked another stay for my next show, so that says it all really :)

Room Tip: Some rooms have lovely views over the Clyde however you have to pay extra for these.

Dear jolo2006

Thank you for your very detailed review.

Our hotel website offers a direct link to book a restaurant table, we highly recommend doing this in advance – this will ensure availability at the time you prefer.

The hotel has been charging for car parking for the past 3 years although we have recently installed a new barrier system to ensure this is fairly charged to all guests.

Kind Regards,
Brian

Well, no so much to say. Hilton means high quality all around the world.
Good hotel, good wifi and rooms, breakfast, staff and everything.
The only thing which was not perfect was the shower. My wife almost could not made the shower due to the fact that the water was quite cold.
Nothing to say about the rest.
Just fine!

I am delighted that we lived up to your expectation of a Hilton hotel however sorry that there appears to have been a fault with your shower.

Nice clean hotel, well maintained and offers most facilities, would have given full marks but the room and bathroom are small. We had a room overlooking the water but rooms on the road side may be noise.
We had drinks and food in the bar area as the restaurant was fully booked, food was good and not very expensive as some others have suggested

Room Tip: I would request a river view room

Stayed here when Strictly Come Dancing was on at SECC,hotel was really busy but did seem to be quite well organised.Welcome at reception was efficient and friendly, our room was clean and well enough appointed for this type of hotel. The restaurant was ok for dinner, not a huge choice but what we had was good and service was good. My only small complaint would be at breakfast time it was a bit crowded trying to get to the cereals when there was a quite a few people trying to make toast.Overall a good hotel and I would return.

Dear tommo99

Thank you for awarding us 5/5!

Strictly Come Dancing is a very busy time for the hotel and it is rewarding to learn that service levels were maintained during this period.

During high demand periods the restaurant offers our pre-concert menu to ensure our freshly prepared food is served in reasonable time.

Brian

Very good hotel. Comfortable, clean, good facilities, access to Leisure facility (pool gym etc) across the road. The hotel is well situated and sits just on the edge of the city centre which is just a short 10-15 minute walk away or a quick trip by taxi. Situated on the river bank there is some nice walking to be done. Good food can be had in the hotel or just up the road. Will try to stay here again on my next trip to Glasgow.

Room Tip: I got a special rate so didn't choose my room. However, there is a view on one side of the hote...

Hotel is perfectly located for attending events at SEEC which is less than a 2 minute walk away.

Holtel is comfortable with a good range of facilities. Bar and restaurant very nice although slightly on the expensive side but a good range of meals available and staff very helpful

Room Tip: The higher the floor, then the better the view over the river

We are indeed an ideal location for the SECC and even closer to the new Hydro arena that is due open in September.

Stayed here with my partner as a last minute booking and was not disappointed, check in was very quick, room was spotless and the Apple Mac in the room is a great idea, although wifi was down for a few hours in the evening. Great location for secc or city centre is a 5 min taxi or 20 min walk. Will stay again.
