“Awesome, iMac TV/Computer nice touch”
Reviewed September 4, 2012

Wow, we stayed here for three nights in August. It was on the Hop On Hop Off bus route which was great!! The price was great, we booked it in advance. We did not have breakfast included but had it one morning, it was very nice but a bit pricey. We had supper there one night, very good food and service. The iMac computer/TV in the room was a very nice touch. Really enjoyed catching up on things in the evening. The Indian restaurant across the road is Excellent!!!!

Dear Elaine H

Thank you for such a wonderful review and rating of 5/5.

Our iMacs in the rooms are very popular allowing guests to catch up on the internet from the comfort of their room, in addition to the business centre that available 24hrs a day for guests to use.

Kind Regards
Brian

We had stayed here before when it was called The Mint Hotel and had a positive experience. Owing to the fact that we had a room with a view of the river Clyde and the 'squinty bridge', this was an even better experience.
The rooms are still fresh and clean and as well as free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, each room is equipped with an i-Mac which doubles as a tv as well.

We are always impressed when a hotel makes a little effort to provide a veggie option at breakfast, and this is the case here. The only tiny niggle was the awful coffee we were served. When we asked for a stronger one we were told that would not be possible. Strange, eh? We didn't drink it, it was so weak.

Otherwise, a pleasant experience all round.

Thank you for such a positive review.

It is pleasing to learn of your satisfaction with the vegetarian options offered at breakfast and I apologise for the coffee not being as strong as you wanted – you should have been offered an alternative.

Kind Regards
Brian

We only ever stay in higher grade hotels . . . even if we have to save up. We both work hard and prefer to enjoy our stays in the better hotels. With Hilton Garden, we found that we had a quality hotel yet reasonably priced. The price for our room was comparable with Premier Inn or Travelodge. Upon our arrival, we found on site parking at at very reasonable £5 for 24 hours and with our experience of Glasgow Cabbies, were content to leave the car there ! The reception was friendly, knowledgeable of sights, restaurants etc and check in was quick and efficient. The room we found had a great view of the Clyde and was superbly equipped. Nothing more embarrasing to go to reception and ask for an ironing board . . . The room had it ! Even a Mini Bar fridge which we soon filled up with our own supplies ! The room TV / Computer / Audio system was brilliant and easy to use - The speaker system made us think we were in a nightclub !!! Unfortunately, my Fiancee sprained her ankle in the city. Upon our arrival back at the hotel, the bar staff were simply brilliant and provided a full ice bucket of ice that we could use to reduce the swelling. No one in this hotel could have done any more to make our stay any more enjoyable as they did. If you want a quality hotel, then this is the place !!!

Room Tip: We were lucky - we were allocated a Clyde view. I'd ask for this in advance to ensure you get i...

Dear J J

Thank you for awarding us 5/5.

The sound system on the iMacs is indeed top quality with the JBL speakers, you also have the option of plugging in your iPod to listen to your own music.

I hope your fiancé has now recovered from her accident.

Kind Regards,
Brian

Location was ok, though a bit far out from city centre. The room was small and had an unpleasant odour. Had to ask for toilet paper, Kleenex etc. Breakfast was good. Front desk staff were pleasant, but, misrepresented how lOng it would take to get to places.
Disappointing stay, mainly due to the odour in the room.

We have just spent four nights at the Garden Inn, in Glasgow, what a gem of a place in the middle of the city. The rooms are bijou but perfect, with views over the river. The room was imacculately clean and well presented. The bathroom was small not having a bath but I prefer the walk in shower that we had and the toiletries and towels were of excellent quality. We ate out most evenings and had very good breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast was buffet style and was well stocked by the staff,
Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and they always had a smile on their faces.

Room Tip: Ask for a riverside room as they are quieter.

We stayed for a one night (wish it could have been longer!) in late August and left the three weans with their grandparents. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel, unfortunately we had true Glasgow weather and were unable to sit outside next to the River Clyde. My parents recommended this hotel as they had lunch in the hotels City Cafe, dining outside next to the Clyde. The service was to the highest standard and we were made to feel very welcome by all staff from the cleaning staff to the Operations Manager. The food was excellent, we ate from the set menu which was good value and extensive. Breakfast was not your 'typical' there were several items on the menu which were cooked to order and your traditional buffet style, I would recommend the former. The rooms were brand new, clean and very comfortable beds. We used the health club which is well worth a five minute walk from the hotel, the hotel has its own small fitness suite which my wife also used with brand new equipment, water cooler and air conditioning. We had a ten minute walk walked along the Clydeside to the hotel from Central Station. At night we walked 10 minutes to Byers Road to sample the Glasgow night life.

A fantastic hotel and break just too short!!

Room Tip: Ask for a riverside view

We have just had a three night stay here over the bank holiday weekend. it was our first trip to Glasgow so we didn't know what to expect but this hotel was lovely. Having stayed at the Mint Hotel in Leeds and loved it we hope this one would be as good and it was. All the staff we encountered were friendly and helpful, special mention for Dave on the bar and Sophie on reception!! We had a river view room and it was really comfortable and bright. Bathroom was a bit on the small side but the power shower was excellent and the toiletries and towels good quality as you'd expect from a Hilton. We were impressed with the little touches such as both still and sparkling water, Irn Bru, chocolate teacakes and caramel wafers, all complimentary. Fridge, tumblers, wine glasses and an ice bucket, safe, iron and ironing board. We didn't have breakfast in our room rate and we didn't use the restaurant but it was full anyway on the Saturday night and looked really nice. I had hummus and flatbread with hand cooked chips from the bar snacks menu and really enjoyed it. The bar was comfortable and inviting, and there's a large outside decked area so you can sit and have a drink by the river which is lovely (weather permitting!!). Parking is £5 per night which we didn't think was bad as we prefer the car to be securely parked when we are away from home.
The hotel is a good 20 minute walk from the city centre, we did it on our first night but then resorted to taxis (£5 including tip) as it's a pretty boring walk with not much to look at except office and apartment blocks. There's an oriental restaurant called The Rotunda right outside the hotel which we didn't try as we don't like japanese/thai food, and there's an indian called Indian Quay just across the lights, less than 5 minutes walk which we did try and the food was good.
Other than that there's nothing in the immediate vicinity except the Crowne Plaza hotel up the road which is even further away from the city centre. there's a lot of building work going on in the area (no noise at all) which we think will result in a really nice riverside area in a few years
time.
We couldn't find anything to fault about this Hilton, we really enjoyed our stay and were reluctant to leave!!

Room Tip: Choose a river view room as there's not much of a view on the city side
