“not really worth a detour”
Reviewed February 25, 2012

Good to go and see if you are around, but certainly not worth a detour. A hill with old graves...

“Interesting due to it's scale but could be better maintained”
Reviewed February 15, 2012

We visited the Necropolis as part of a weekend in Glasgow. From afar it looks stunning but close up many of the mausoleums and gravestones are completely rotting away and the pathways difficult to navigate. We live close to Nunhead cemetery in London and which is a great example of a Victorian cemetery that has managed the decline of the gravestones and improved access to make it pleasant to stroll around. I would say that is is worth a visit but maybe in the summer when the paths are less slippery.

“A fantastic display of monumental masonry”
Reviewed February 14, 2012

I am so very glad that I took time to visit this place, for it is beautiful, not in a morbid sense, but in the sense the neo classical edifices that adorn the hill. I only wish that I spent more time to explore it, but it is breathtaking to say the least.

If you have an eye for such things, (monuments, mausoleums, reliefs etc), you will not be disappointed, for there are a great many to investigate.
