Well, let's face it. The rain was coming down in bucketloads, the River Cart had burst its banks, the roads and paths in the park were full of huge puddles, so it possibly wasn't the best day to visit. However, I found the whole thing strangely depressing. The building was leaking, galleries had been emptied and the artifacts put into store, and though there were other wonderful things left to look at, it all left me a bit cold. The lighting was a bit dim and the layout not intuitive. A disappointment in a comparatively new building. I wish the man in the tourist office in Buchanan street had told us about the water ingress problem when we were asking him how to get there. Maybe we wouldn't have bothered. The staff in the coffee shop were lovely, but it was a long way to travel from the city centre just to get a good coffee.

Visited again with friends, it had a been a while since last visit,it is great to look at so many treasures left to Glasgow by Burrell. The place does nedd a bit of work now to many leaks it is not a old building and i think the builders should beheld responsible for part of cost of repair's,i agree that there should not be a loan or tours abroad as per Burrell's request when left the items for dispay.

A truly wonderful collection of works of art housed in a building with severe problems of water penetration. I managed to see approximately one third of the collection as the remainder had already been moved into storage. Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely situation but might be better to visit it once all the collection is returned to the Museum

I've been visiting the Burrell on and off ever since it opened and love it because it is such a unique collection and presented really well, even if the building is suffering a bit at the moment (despite being only 30 years old). As well as the collection itself being interesting, the cafe is excellent (really good soup, coffee and cakes) and the location is good being in the Pollok Country Park. It is also really easy to get to by train from Glasgow Central. You can take photos of the exhibits providing you do not use a flash.

A very interesting collection in a modern setting. I enjoyed my visit very much, however it was a very wet day and there were several leaks dripping through the building. Pity as its such a modern building too. The café had some lovely looking dishes, but I only got tea and cake. Staff were friendly and the gift shop had some good value gifts. I will definitely go back next time I'm in the area.
I got the train from Edinburgh (train every 15mins), then walked to the other Glasgow train station for a second train to Pollokshaw west. From this station it is only a 10min walk to the Burrell collection. Sounds complicated but I was surprised at how easy the journey turned out to be.
