I had the misfortune to take my elderly mother to the GRI today for an MRI scan - which she was sent for because she can't walk more than 10 metres without becoming weak. We were then instructed to walk literally about a mile through corridors - she was in great discomfort so I had to find a wheelchair and push her myself. The staff seemed disaffected and had little interest in patient wellbeing. Once receptionist in a room full of elderly people in the middle of a thunderstorm and in horrible muggy conditions was happy to sit with a fan blasting right in her face rather than put in on rotate to cool down others.

I have often moaned about my local hospital the RAH. I will never moan about it again and I will NEVER step over the door of this hospital again - if your health board tries to send you here to beat waiting time deadlines I would refuse I'm afraid - and I am a big supporter of the NHS and the work it does.

I visit A&E of this hospital coz of my bad toothache on Sunday morning at 4a.m. Luckily I was the only patient in the waiting room and there was 4 reception staff. Which took me 15 minutes to talk to them coz they were busy watching a video on the screen and laughing
It took me further 3 hours to see a doctor although I was the only patient in A&E
Just want to ask the people at the hospital. Do u guys have any doctors working there anymore. If not why not transform this hospital into flats so at least people can sleep there. Thanks

some parts of the hospital are better than other and some of the staff are more helpful than others some staff will help you and for others it is to much hassle

Doing a nearby tour of the Necropolis I was so impressed by the beauty, fading though it maybe, of The Royal Infirmary. Unlike some of the other reviews, I was perhaps fortunate to just be a tourist passing through because I thought it was absolutely fantastic as an example of Victorian architecture and huge.
So I heartily recommend you going to see it - from the outside! Apparently no need to venture further but truly worth a viewing.

the outside of GRI is an architectural dream with old stones, turrents etc which stand proudly alongside the new GRI.

Once inside it loses that romantic lustre and it's not as clean as it could be. Bring back Matron's so that the wards are kept in an impeccible condition that will help eradicate germs
